Samurai vs Ninja
One prefers open war while the other is clouded in mystery. how are the different? Which would you rather be?
Well i'd think Samurais got quite a difficult job. they have to face death in the eye every so often. to have their humanity taken away from them by killing many on open fields and hiding that regret with their own code of honour. Yet they do it at the command of their lord without question or wavering of loyalty. They risk being struck with anything in a line charge against the enemy, in a battle where hearts are hardened.
As for ninjas, they do kill alot but they do not run the risk of open fights. This is to do with the nature of their role. They are covert ops people. Much depends on their ability to stay silent and unseen. Do their job right in the middle of enemy forces and get out. I think for one that is quite a diffult job. Hiding in spots for hours wating for thing to happen or an opportunity for an assination. Getting caught is not an option as it will deffinately cost their lives. They are also no protected or recognised by their lords commanding them.

Well, a samurai is a warrior with lots of pride and acts like a "gentleman" when it comes to fights and wars... Kind of... Hard to explain but they are soldiers but better and more shown with respect and ninjas they are spies or killers. They get orders about to kill someone so the one who ordered them won't get her/his hands "dirty". So if you are going to compare with them then ninja is more like the evil one even though they both kill in mission... But if I going to choose between them then I would choose ninjas because they work "in a mysterious way" and that is kind cool. Like climbing on roof and jumping in trees and stuff... Assume!! ^^

Ooooh! I JUST (like last weekend) attended a lecture entitled "How to Become a Samura/Ninja in 2 Hours." Very cool. I learned a TON, including a slew Japanese words I didn't know. (I'll PM the lecture notes to anyone who'd like to see them :3) Where to begin...?
Samurai are, well, stuffy. Every single thing they do is steeped in honor and propriety; that's a pretty oppressive way to live. They tend to function more like an army, whereas ninja work in very small groups or individually (on missions, usually the latter). Ninja work undercover (DUH) and learn how to disgusie themselves (the komuso or travelling monk was a popular one, as was the sarugaku, a "monkey" or court fool-type of performer), and study medecine and poison. Both lifestyles are tiring and intense, and being in peak physical condition is important, since they're required to risk their lives on a regular basis.
By the way, you know those signs made with interlocked/crossed fingers in Naruto used for jitsu? Those are based on the actual "nine signs of concentration," which I learned how to do (though I get 'em mixed up... ^^;;).
All things considered... Ninja are cooler. ^^

I think samurai are better. They seems to be more loyal. With all that stuff of Honor, Pride, they started to be really loyal; to who I don't know.
Ninja just think in their work (please don't take Naruto in consideration now, in anime is totally different), and this make them forget about their allies in the mission.
In a fight between a samurai and a ninja, I think the ninja would win, because of their objectives are just something like 'stay alive to complete the mission, no matter what'.

I personally believe that there isnt a warrior class throughout history that could match the swordsmanship, technique and spirit of the Samurai.....hands down its gotta be the samurai although ninja are pretty whoop @$$ too.

Ninjas are cute, but I love samurais. I love the way they fight. It´s all about honor, isn´t it? I rather prefer a one on one encounter than checking my back all the time.
Have you ever seen a dream walking? Well... I did.
I think in order to become a shinobi you needed to have a position as a samurai general in the army during ancient Japan, so to speak they where the elite of the samurai (not 100% sure so don't quote me). And in most cases the shinobies worked for their lords, not as mercenaries or thugs, so they do have some honor. I prefer ninjas over samurais mainly because they work more individual and in the shadows without leaving a trace of there pressence and yes they get to play with sharp objects and throw shiny toys at others. But then again samurais are praised for there skills with the blade.
Hmmm.. I think.. Usually Ninjas work for Land Lords.. So, in my opinion.. There are just little freedom for ninja.. But the outlaw ninjas full with freedom.. Hehehe! The Samurai is a high prided swordman that can work in pair, in group, or alone! Full with freedom! You can choose, want to be a Wanderer, Guardian, Yakuza, or work to great Emperor.. Well, I choose Samurai! Full with freedom..

cuz hell if it was anime then that would be shit cuz theres samurai like Kenshin who can do like loads of "unreal" sword techniques and ninjas like hmmmm...i dont really know...BUT! this is still confusing cuz if it was anime i'd go for ninjas since stretching the boundaries welll,we could work something out
if it was real life though i might choose samurai cuz thats better than trying to sneak in places which i dont want to be in and my stealth skills are so noobish like you would not believe

I gotta say this is a hard choice to make...but i'll go with being a samurai...
i mean samurai fight way cooler...they fight directly, and with honor...unlike ninjas who sometimes do some quick assasination plots...
