This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Hello! I'm a noob here.
Could anyone please give me comments and advice on this wall I made.
here
It's actually quite old and I uploaded it somewhere else already but since it's my first on here, I need suggestions to make it high enough quality to be worthy of this site ^_^
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Notes on the wall:
Scan uploaded by kyro and can be found somewhere on Minitokyo
Thanks for uploading :)
The big window and wall is based on a scene where Kira and Lacus are talking in the Archangel when Lacus gets captured.
A bit of Lacus's hair was cut out of the scan so I spent some time drawing it out. I hope it looks alright.
I drew Haro from a screenshot of the anime and also drew the reflected version. He was put in there mainly to establish that they're in front of a window and not floating in space but also because he's so darn cute.
Star background and moon/planets were made completely from scratch.

In my humble opinion, this is a very good Wallpaper, i really liked it with the scenario of the night starry sky and the moon; and the characters there in an intimate moment x3; i hope some day ill be able to make some quality walls as this one, greetings.

The idea is nice, but there are some things that needs to be fixed.

:: You cant really see theres a window, try to fix this so the scenery would be even better then it is.
:: The wall needs to be fixed as well, it doesnt look like a wall but just a gradient bar.
:: Maybe a bit more variety in the background, but not too fancy, just a slighty randomness, just an idea though.

Goodluck!

Have a texture or something for the wall would work.
if you're trying to creat a starry sky scene, and not just them in space, then there are way too many stars
they're a bit too bright and there aren't any clouds...
you should add some clouds, and make the moon smaller, and don't have another smaller moon beside it.
from your pink thing there on the right, i can tell the reflection on the window is supposed to on the left side,
however the reflection of the girl's hair is not present there at the left.
the lamp also looks a bit weird because i can't tell where the light is hitting..
C: that's all, great job! did it get rejeccted?

Hi. Thanks for all the suggestions on my GS wall.
to Yulaw, I have to agree, it's hard to tell there's a window. But apart from reflections, I really don't know what I can do to make it obvious T_T
Should I make the window smaller perhaps?
Yes the wall is basically a few gradients :P But I wanted a clean space ship inside kind of look based on the ones in GS. So I don't want to add any rough textures and things like that. What else can I do to make it look like a wall?

to blu3angl, it's actually meant to be in space, in a spaceship. And the reflections are like that for the perspective.
You're probably right that the lamp does look a bit weird but it's the best I could do :(
And yes, it did get rejected ^^'

Sorry! I overlooked this thread on the forum since alot of people are making new ones and its hard to track the previous ones.

Well, to show it is a window you could add some light reflections on it since there is a light beneath it. Add a colored layer and turn down the opacity. I think it may become more like a window that way, show us the results and we can always work on improvement.

If you really want an future like.. emm wall? try to add some lines and some shades of a dark colored blue or grey, something along those lines. You might want to use this wallpaper as an example Highlighted Wallpaper.

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck!

Well, I really wouldn't know anything about backgrounds. but I'll say my opinions.
The space background is really good. but the wall and lamp have some issues. Exactly what Yulaw has said.
Why not try adding some vector background^^?
Also, the text seems out of place. Could use some effects. I'm not really good with text effects, so I don't really use it.
It might be more work, but how about adding 'Freedom' in the space background? It could give the wall somemore eyecandy.

As for the the vector, it's so good that you can barely tell if it's a vector or not. Great work on it!
It would really be nice if we saw the original scan, so it can be compared.
Almost anyone can extract and clean a scan, but not everyone can make a vector.^^

Good Luck on this one. And keep it up on the really good vectoring.
Don't let the 'wall rejection' get to you. happens all the time. Usually, at this point, all the wall really needs are some tweaks.

*edit

The result was as far as my current abilities could stretch. How can I make the wall look more real?

Sometimes a wall doesn't have to be real to be good. Your abilities are good enough to make a wall, it just needs a little cleverness on how/where to use it. =P

Just add a complimenting texture to the wall,
and probably get rid of the lamp because the light would have to go on the windows and the guy and then it just gets really complicated.
because that doesn't look much like a lamp ^^(sorry :)

Yeah, its more like "Lamplit Kiss"... (oooh, Im bad :P) But seriously, the wall looks terrific. Clean scan, nicely done stars, the reflection on the glass isnt bad, but you need to focus most on the interior of the ship. The problem with the light is 1. too bright. 2. looks too 2d. When I first saw the wall, I didnt realize they were in a ship, so making the inside look more...shippy would work. (A little brushing would do the job.)

It's been a long since my last visit on this section. Okay, no offence.

The scan is not bad, suits the title, and indeed, if the bg is a reflection of a ROOM, then you better do something on it like fullmetal21 said, Holt-san.

I have no comment for the galaxy because you had done a good job on it for not fancy / starry until steal Kira and Lacus' spotlight.

The wall lower part can be more realitic, or should I say harder edges, then add some sort of border on the line between window and the wall, it is another trick to make the window been noticed.

A very beautiful wall! I like the background very much!! I think that you can put the scan~ too bright [* kira & lacus] darker while the background is dark! ^o^

Your wallpaper looks really pretty! I like it a lot! Maybe you should brighten the colors a little bit, at least those of the scan, but it's up to you. Congrats!

That's a very good point fullmetal21 and ztkl. I have to agree that to really show it's a window, there needs to be some proper reflection of the inside of a ship. I really can't believe that didn't occur to me *slaps forehead*
And yes, the lamp is a serious problem area. I may remove it altogether.
Thanks for the input everyone!
