Here recentaly a friend of mine said that he was going to set up his owm Ragnarok sever and he asked me if i wanted to sign on as a GM but the problem is i have never played RO i am still going to sign on as a GM and i like alot of what i see about RO but i want to hear some stuff from some people who have actually played it
Ok, I made my own RO server I got about 400+ people and its preety dam hard keeping a server alive.
RO is fun alot of fun during WoE and PvP, since your gona play as a GM I feel sorry for you cause theres gona be alot of experienced players that would join new servers and cuss out GMs like I do for being Noobs. Since your gona be a fresh GM I suggest you learn your RO stuff and your GM commands, basic commands are like @warp, @lvl, @disguise, @item, @skilloff, @pvpon, etc. So good luck on being a GM and since your gona be a GM I also suggest you should type correctly, I mean no 1337-talk in your sentences and add periods it makes you look professional =D.

I've playing on a server called XiLeRO. It was fun until I got my LKH jacked. I loved the PK in the game. My advice would be is to host many events and be nice to the players.

Private RO servers are all well and good, except the community tends to get spoiled rather quickly, especially if the rates (experience, job exp., drop rates) are pretty high. Granted, past a point, the rates are pointless and it's up to the server customizations to keep the community alive, but there are a very LARGE number of private servers out there. As such, it's really hard to stand out from the crowd.
The game itself is fun enough. It has a dynamic class system and a combat system reminiscent of Diablo II or Dungeon Siege. The onscreen sprites are cute and can be customized somewhat depending on the server (palette swaps and the like), but like many games of its type, you'll find the level grind to be annoying unless there are experience rewards for quests.
A word of advice: be cautious if you decide to play a female account. Many male players are known to harrass the female characters as the sprites tend to be scantily clad.

thank you, so you know i am one of those players who tend to chose the class that is considered weak or hard to lvl and end becoming very powerful, so in short i am a extreamly fast learner

Pretty fun! some of the servers i played had a great community. Well as some have said, GMs usually get harrassed for everything! I was never a GM but i've seen the complaints =.= But it does tend to get boring fast especially if its a high-rate server
I thought it was a great introduction for a first MMORPG. It was simple, didn't require an expensive video card and was addictive. But too addictive. I think I developed very minor carpal tunnel from this game because you have to click for nearly every damn thing you need to do! They need some more kind of automation!

I used to be a Critical Sin in some private server ... gets bored when you're fully equip and being overpower in the server ...

We're now in Lighthalzen here in pRO, I have'nt tried it much yet. So far one of my first characters is already a lord knight but is stuck at 97 for quite a long time and the vit build I created got stuck at 84, I sure missed a lot of chances to let my characters reach lvl 99. Usually I only do a little checking to see if my friends are online but I guess we're all the same who no longer plays much unlike before. A lot of bots have already spread, I don't usually mind them but nowadays most of the bots are KSers which is really annoying.
That reminds me of why I stopped play regular RO.. all the friggin bots that run rampant ruin the game. They end up controlling the economy and items so it ended up being pointless to play. To top it off, it seems that Gravity can't do anything to stop the bots from coming back no matter how many they continue to get rid of.

Some bots (like OpenKore) will not killsteal. If a monster is attacking someone else, it won't attack.
Private RO is fun. I perfer HR (high rate) servers of MR (mid rate) or LR (low rate) ^_^. You just get more items, lvl faster, and WOE is much more fun as well ^_^. You can also use stat resets and what not to play around with your char and build the perfect character. I used to play on namelessRO but stopped beacuse well, lets just say it was making my grades drop.
