This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Ah, I see. So after approving is possible to change to even a not listed resolution.

^hatesyou 19 minutes ago
The first was a 4:3 wallpaper. The low res widescreen version has been added later.

°akiranyo 21 minutes ago
Kath: That means that the first was 1440x900?

^hatesyou 23 minutes ago
The 1280x800 version has been uploaded by the user as a first revision. Might pay to get your facts straight before complaining.

°akiranyo 26 minutes ago
We should go up with resolutions not down. Btw AP resizes 1440x900 automatic to 1280x800.

Oh, fellow widescreen users eh

Im glad, because 1280x800 fits my laptop screen :3

°akiranyo 37 minutes ago
Hmmm, AP makes such a big fuss about resolutions, but I see again a 1280x800 being accepted. Not even listed.

Well, this is my very first wall, so even though I think it looks just perfect, I thought of placing it in Session Zero first. All reactions are welcome, maybe you see some things that need improvement, or could look better if changed, please post!

View my wall here

I made the wall from this scan, which made me think of the dvd cover of Sin City (Vash and Bruce Willis in pretty similar pose). The scan needed some fixing, I darkened it and actually drawed some parts myself to make it fit better. The background is from Sin City, just like the font as you can see. The biggest issue for me was the rain, my first choice was to make it more like the meantioned cover with thicker raindrops and stuff, my other option was to make the rain more like the Sin City comic, with many thin lines. I'm still not fully convinced with my choice, so I hope you guys can help me with that.

Thanks.

Very nice. I love the Sin City feel to it. The only thing Id change is the brightness of the font. The wall is generally dark, and the bright red font throws it off a bit. Try reducing the ocupancy to about 50%...or make the red a bit darker. But overall, its has an nice flow and was nicely executed

I actually agree on this the font is bothering me now after looking more at it but not that much doing this would be a good idea

There's only two things I personally would modify before submitting this as a wallpaper:

-The Trigun text - It's not exactly very fitting of the wallpaper. Maybe you should check out a site like dafont and look through some other miscellaneous fonts. This one just doesn't seem to be working out.

-The contrast level - I noticed after looking at your wallpaper for a minute or so that there seems to be a lot of contrast difference between the background and the character. Maybe you should try darkening the background a bit to match the darkest colors on the character. Then, you should try to lighten up the light spots there to keep the contrast and overall quality of the background. You have to be careful doing this, though. It doesn't take much to make it corrected, but it takes just as much to make it worse.

Other than that, I would say that this is a very successful wallpaper and it's well on it's way to being a submittable Trigun wall. Keep up the good work there.

Thanks guys! Hmm, yea the bright text might not really match the dark wall, but I tried to create it just like the real Sin City 'logo', which is actually even brighter. But I'll go and play with it a little, see if I can fix it without losing the true Sin City style of it. I must admit I have a completely textless version of it on my own desktop ^^.

yes thats why at first I didnt mention it because you want it to look like sin city and it does perfectly but if you put it in your desktop it starts to pull your atention

I think this wall looks really nice actually. Though I also think that you would get a whole lot more points if you played around with the color on Vash to give him more of a sin city look such as:
For instance maybe make him black and white but pick out a few choice colors to bring out, like they do in the comics with the blood or in the movie. And if you chose a red on Vash to bring out you wouldn't have to change the opacity on your text, but maybe just make it a tad bit darker.

Only other think I see that could make your wallpaper better is making the rain look more strait and blended with the wall as well.

I think you did a really nice job with this wall. I just want you to make it awsome =]
Nice job/good luck

Update

Darkened the text, plus the whole wall a bit, dodged Vash a little to fix contrast with the new settings. Also added a bit more rain.

@13kings: I've tried to do what you said, but it's hard to find an extra contrasted color since Vash's coat is completely red. So if I let red stand out, you'll get a big piece of red there. Or if I choose to make the red in greytone, you'll get one big piece of black there. Maybe with a bit more experience, I could've found a solution, but remember it's my first wall and I think it's good enough for just that.

Please give some comments on my update though, is it improved?

Thank you Swordfish, your comment means a lot to me.

Allright, I'll submit the wall tomorrow I think, I'm going to sleep now ^^. Again, thank you all for your replies.
