This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Firstly I want to know if it will be accepted. Secondly, which you like better, and lastly what needs to be fixed.

The butterflies definitely give something new to look at (though i have no idea why they are there, is it something from the series?)

I really like how you gave 2 shades to everything. Think you could shade the butterflies in the same way? I noticed the butterflies changed colors passing over different backgrounds/characters... was that for an intentional transparent-ish effect?

I also think the butterflies should start somewhere else since it seems to be coming out of his jacket right now... but once again it might be a theme from the anime i dont know :p

I actually didn't like the butterflies that much, I'm glad to see other people do though because it was my original idea.

Oh, and yes Dragonoflore, the butterflies are from the series. I won't go into detail, but basically they are part of a hallucination. I can make the seem to come from another destination, and if you don't like the transparent effect I'll make them solid.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot my signature, and maybe I'll add some text as well, although I don't think it looks that empty.

Ahh ok :)

I dunno, its just what really caught my attention the first time i looked at the wall was how it was shaded :p I just figured it might be interesting if the butterflies were equally shaded too, though if they are a hallucination the transparent effect may be proper~ ultimately its your wall so whatever you choose ^^

Ooo i like that scratched in wood look of the text :)

The glow of the butterfly is quite spiffy too, and i think the pathing is better. It looks fine to me now \o/

However if you have some time you could tinker with these ideas:
-I still vote for shadowing the butterflies, or tweaking their color a little. it seems to have weird effect on my eyes when the butterflies run into the jacket of the guy on the right
-Since the scratched in wood effect (or so it seems to me) has been added, the other wood looks too perfect now... you may want to add in some texture to the wood (though that may defeat the whole 2 shade outlook)
-I think the floor where they are standing on can use a few lines (for planks of wood look)... the pillar collision with the flood looks odd to me :(

Dragonoflore, your comments were very helpful! Here is the new version:
Cowboy Bebop Version 4

- shaded the buttery flies, and I think I like it a little more
- added planks of wood to the floor, it again makes it look better
- fixed the front most pillar slightly

I thought of the texture idea myself but I wouldn't know where to start and I'm not completely sure if it would look great. Please, anyone comment, your help is appreciated!

Aww why did you take away the glow on the butterflies? T_T either way i like the butterflies now. being the hallucination of the scene i like how they have the only different style in the scene~

i think the ground looks more interesting with the lines, so that may score you a few points :p

all i think can to be done now is some texturing to the wood (though i have no idea how you would go about that so i hope someone else comes ^^) though i want to warn, make sure the texture isnt too complex, or it might destroy the whole 2 color scheme :p perhaps a simple grain pattern

other than that i think youre set ^^ i think the cloud area makes for good icon space so dont touch that area :D

*edit* ahh btw, it seems the one outcrop in the corner (very left most corner bend) runs into the other things at a different angle than the rest of the platform continues off :p

Hum i prefer without butterflies
otherwise about the scan i think it misses somes shadows on the hair of Jet
and look carefully on the legs of the second chara, there is a little prob
for the bg your clouds seems strange but enough detailled
anyway i very like it

So tired! Anyways, here is yet another version:

Cowboy Bebop Version 5

- I've once again updated the buttery flies
- the wood has been messed with a bit, and places I thought didn't look right have been edited
- colors changed for a few things

Thanks so much for all the help, I take each suggestion in to consideration. Thanks again for all the help so far.

Butterflies are looking fine now to me

http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/111/cowboybebopv5df2tinkerpl9.jpg

for the wood, i guess these things got to me (though i guess it could be considered imperfections o.O)

the random plank sticking out of the bottom... i wasnt too sure what that was doing... so i assumed it should stretch across the bottom for support :o

the 2 lines are guide for the wood between the pillars... though if you adjust that it might make the wood 'too perfect'... i dunno =/

the 3 circles show the directions the would are running... with the topmost looking like it goes off at a different angle... but maybe thats how they were suppose to be~

but if you correct everything i pointed out it might look stupid, so its your choice ^^;;

Hum inside the house it is a little too dark why don't you a little light
the i think you should move the butterflies at the left
as i see you corrected the leg of the guy
finally the clouds, in my opinion they have a strange texture >_<
