This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Dark Waterhttp://www.themoviebox.net/movies/2005/DEF...ter/trailer.phpI saw the trailer for this movie when I went to see 'the life aquatic' its going to star Jennifer Connelly *drool* and looks to be a scene for scene remake of the japanese version.I saw the Japanese version last year and loved it. I highly recommend checking it out if you like japanese horror films. http://www.midnighteye.com/reviews/darkwater.shtmlYou'll notice that it is directed by Hideo Nakata, the wonderful guy who brought us the Ring. This movie will be especially poignant if you live in an apartment building o_o

I saw the trailer on Apple.com a while ago and I thought it looked pretty interesting. I might go to see it when it's released.

Kinda curious how this turns out, i've seen the japanese version and i thought it was pretty good as well. My hopes aren't very high though since the american adaptations of these movies just never seem to touch the eerie feeling of their japanese counterparts. Of the ones i've seen Ju-on was better than the grudge (although Sarah Michelle Gellar was very pleasant on the eyes <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' />) and The Ring Japan was better than The Ring US. There's also a Ring 2 coming out in the US this year, from what i hear though it doesn't follow the same storyline as the Japanese Ring 2.

I can see that remakes of horror stories might be starting to become a trend here.I don't see the point in doing remakes. Why not just sub them in English and distribute them all over America. Don't tell me that people can't read.

It's not that people can't read, it's that they prefer not to. They're lazy. Even my family whines when they have to watch something subtitled. <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sleep.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sleep.gif' /> Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was dubbed in English and distributed in theatres that way. Of all the theatres that I had a choice of in college to go see it, one had it subtitled.Getting back on topic *shock*. I'll see this when it comes to disk and if my friend tells me it's good (he's a horror geek), but it does sound interesting. XD Not a huge fan of seeing horror films on screen, especially after how horrible Darkness Falls was.

lol, I definitely agree with you, some people have no patience.<img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /> you should watch horror on the big screen to get the full effect. I actually find that watching horror flicks in a small dark room to be twice as horrifying.

I like my movies original. No remakes (unless the original was in black and white or made in the 60's to 80's).

i've heard from a friend who's studying film, that with japanese horror movies, it's not that they are concerned about subbing and dubbing, it's 2 things.1) the japanese cencorship isn't as harsh as ours. the blood is insane (and tends to be far more realistic) as compared to an american movie. sometimes even the bloodiest of american horror films doesn't compare to a japnese horror film.2) it's a fact that theatres and people in general just don't go to see movies that are imported from other countries. at least here in the states that is. i live in NY and if you wanna see a movie like "hero" your best bet is to just go to manhattan, cause sometimes it's hard to find a theatre playing it. actually, hero was a bad example, since quintin taranetino's name was on it, people went to see it <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' /> but i think you get the idea.plus, hollywood can't seem to come up with any of their own ideas lately. even disney keeps stealing ideas, or producing the movies from pixar to stay alive with ideas x_xhorrow movies scare me though.even SCREAM scared me ;-;

>_> I saw the original back in 2002 in a HK teather.(chinese subbed XD) I must admit it freaked the living hell out of me. It's not as messed as Ringu, but it's damn close. Little girls scare me <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' />.

When I first saw this thread I thought it was about Pirates of Dark Water. Anyone remember that cartoon? I was only very young when it aired here, but from what I remember, it rocked the joint.

I might remember it O_o Sounds familiar. Anyway, how was The Life Aquatic, Evol? The trailer didn't impress me so much but I hear it's worth seeing.
