Yes! Go Italy... and Austria (kinda a mix). Yeah the Euro Cup kicked off today, and I was disappointed in the Swiss for not being able to score a goal after how well they played.

The Swiss side contains no good or proven attackers so as soon as they pushed upfield they were stretched for ideas. Even if the Czech Republic are an up-down team, they still have quality up front to win them games or edge out games for them at least. Not forgetting the Czech defence is a fairly decent one and Petr Cech is the best goalkeeper in the world at the moment.
Another one of the favorites to win the cup plays today, that side being Germany and they're playing Poland so this is our first glance to see whether the German side has can show any merit to the praise it's gotten. With Ballack as their captain and Klose and Podolski somewhere up front, I think they'll dominate this game with ease.

And dominate they did 2-0. Tomorrow's games are going to be real good, Group C is by far the toughest one. Netherlands vs. Italy + Romania vs. France.

Group C is just imbalanced. France, Italy and the Netherlands are leeching points from each other, pretty hard to tell whos playing in the finals, but my tip goes for Italy and France, 'cause I don't like the Netherlands

Group C is a tough one alright. Italy, Holland and France are all really strong teams. The Holland v Italy game is going to speak magnitudes for how this group is going to end up I think.
Even though, I'm seeing Italy and France going through, I wouldn't underestimate the power of the Dutch. Van there Sar is a great goalkeeper who rarely lets them in and Van Nistelroy can get them the goals they need. Italy will be somewhat shaky with the loss of their captain due to injury and reports are going around that their ace striker Toni ran rings around the new centerbacks they brought in to replace the captain so it's all very edgy.
I'm fairly sure France will make it through regardless so it's just a tight race between Holland and Italy. Whoever wins tonight is going to have their country in an uproar.

Today's games have not gone the way I've predicted but goes to show you how unpredictable these tournements and the world of football/soccer is 'eh? The France game was one of the worst games I've ever seen in my life and I've been watching with a keen interest for about 10 years now so I've seen some pretty bad games in my time.
As for the Holland one. >_>... That... was not expected. I know I highlighted the defence problem before but I didn't know it'd be THAT bad. I mean, Holland completely destroyed them. An absolutely amazing game.

Yeah this tournament has been enjoyable and I was completely surprised at the Holland counter-attack. That was an impressive second and third goal they scored off of it, but I think the first one was shaky. Tomorrow's games should be somewhat interesting as well, Russia vs. Spain and Greece vs. Sweden.

You really didn't miss anything with the France one. One of the commentators over here was actually complaining during the live broadcast that he actually wanted to leave instead of watching the game.
I'm rooting for Spain too. They're my favorites for this competition and who I said I'll be rooting for from day one (with Germany as my underdogs). Haven't got very high hopes for the Sweden game but knowing this tournament, who knows!

The Russian team isn't an exciting one and one which is fairly defensive and strikes gold on the counter-attack or so I've noticed whilst the Swedish team has some talent but not a massive amount of it. It could be a decent game but I'm not going to put my hopes up, I'm predicting 1-0 to the Swedes and the Spaniards to beat the Russians either 1-0 or 2-0.
