Sadly, even though I love GTA, I'm going to be waiting quite a while before I get this one. I don't have any consoles, so I have to wait for it to come out on PC. And then I will need to get a PC that can handle the game. I hear the multi-player is fantastic and I really want to check it out.

I also wish that there was less emphasis on the story, and more of a free form progression to the game. I would rather just work my way up the crime ladder on my own, and choose my own allies, than have the game force them on me.

This game should just hurry up and die...it's boring and too random! After you finish the story, it's really lame!

I don't think I have ever heard those two words together, boring and random. Generally, if a game offers random things, it's to keep you from being bored. Honestly, it's not GTA's story that has shined in the past, but rather the gameplay itself. I'm not sure if you've never played a GTA before or even if you've played the game, but it has far more to offer than a story. I spent a good two hours fooling around just driving around in the city, doing what not and I'm only about 5% into the game. You have got to also realize that GTA offers something after the story, which is what most games don't. Normally, after you've beaten a game, that's it.

I also fail to understand why the game should "hurry up and die". Are you making a stab at the series? Or just the game itself. Hell, I'm not too sure I really understand what you're suppose to bring to this conversation, which is I think what bothers me the most.

I'm enjoying the game so far. The story is amazing and graphics are great too. I love the fact that Liberty City is modeled almost completely on NYC.

I think what maddhater is saying is that the possibility of doing so much is what attracts people (at least it was that way with me), like "Have you heard of GTA?" "Which one is it?" "Is the game were you can go around the city shooting people and you can steal a car and make the police chase you and you can use a speedboat in the water and you can also parachute and you can do whatever the hell you want." And it is like that, and it's great, until at some point I got like: "wtf am I doing? This is pointless" and you start paying more attention to the story and the side missions. To me the randomness is great at the beginning, but then it turns redundant and redundant is not fun.

Or maybe I'm reading too much in his post, but in general ways I have to say your opinion on this game (both deer's and cyanide's) changed mine =] I have more faith in this game now.

We have converted thou! (>_<)9 emoticon

Though, the last mission sucks. Almost as bad as Vice City's last mission or last couple of missions. They had to go back to formula at some point I suppose.

Well, if some people don't like sandbox like games (which I am tempted to say GTA4 is less so than GTA3SA from my limited exposure to it) then don't play GTA. There are plenty of linear non-sandboxy games out there. =)

Well, I finished the main story (which was quite nice, but nothing great). In short it's a very good game (45 hours played :) ), with average graphics (R* had to use many filters to hide aliasing and low-res textures) and a great soundtrack.

bahhh, i think the game is an technical achievment, im playing right now in x-box live, and i think it´s incredible the fact that you can play whit fiveteen peoples in the same city, whit the same trafic and pedestrian than the sigle mode.

the game modes are inmense and addictve, i think that if rockstar made available more game types, or maybe maps not necessary liberty city outtakes, it can superate halo 3 or team fortress xperience, if you don´t like grand teft auto , is cause you never played it.

my englisjh is terrible T.T

You can't really say the game suffers from average graphics when you consider the scale of Liberty City. As you've completed the game, you must have flown over the whole city with a helicopter. Upon looking at that, how could you say the game suffers from average graphics? You compare a screenshot of GTA4 to Conflict Denied Ops and tell me which one suffers most from average graphics.

Other than that, I agree with the rest of your post.

They've always used the bloom effect for the GTA games to give it that glossy look, but most console games usually do. I wouldn't say that there are a massive amount of filters. In terms of average graphics, maybe. If you compare it to another game like Bioshock, then yes. Keep in mind that Bioshock has load points as well per set distance while GTA loads a city. Add in a monsterous amount of NPC's, vehicles and other crap and yeah, the game is going to take somewhat of a hit. Obviously, there are going to be graphical shortages when it comes to a game like that. Reason why GTA 3 - San Andreas kept a very similar look. Aside from going multiple discs, which is out of the question for a game like GTA, they had to cut the graphics a bit.

Even despite this, the game looks absolutely stunning. Considering how many games out there that are next gen look like previous gen games and considering the massive scale of GTA, I don't know of a game out there that matches it.

Well I bought my copy a few days ago, after getting the money for it, it was a little more expensive than I had hoped and I've gotta say that while it certainly deserves its "10" score I only have one complain (not that it's a big fault or that it was actually expected) and it is that you can't do "regular" activities (strip clubs, darts, pool) with your friends on free mode, it would've been an EXCELLENT addition but oh well, guess it already is too perfect, maybe they're saving that up for the next one :D

In my opinion it's a very good game. You can spend much time with it and it doesn't get boring (okay, perhaps after 30 hours or so ;-)

I gotta admit, this game is Awesome! The graphics are amazing, and the story is great (although I would have preferred if it had a bit more humor like in San Andreas.) The controls are like smooth butter, just plain great, and the action is awesome, plus I'm surprised the game works so well on the Xbox 360, although the facts that using cheats causes you to lose achievements sucks. Still the is a great game, probably one of the best I've ever played.
