After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

How is Japanese Anime better than America Cartoons?

I think it is a cultural difference, not just style or quality

I agree that cartoons (Simpsons, Family Guy, Boondocks, etc) are intended for humor as parodies and political/social satire. I don't know of anime you can compare that genre of animation to - i could be wrong on that. So if American cartoons are for adults or are just crap for kids, what's else is there? I think the only realistic American comparison to Japanese anime are the superhero type cartoons that follow the original comic books (Superman, Batman, Xmen, etc). Those are the closest to anime based on manga. When i think about American stories like that and then Japanese anime/manga stories, I personally think that Japan wins the gold on that one. It's the story lines, the character development, the variety in plot and conflict, and this list goes on and on. Also, there are no shojo themed comics/cartoons in America, so most of the ones based on comics originally designed for boys have the same types of female characters: damsel in distress/love interest - boy saves the world and gets the girl.

Tie? It's like comparing an apple to a banana.

We should give the Americans credit; they make pretty good shows every now and then. Avatar was pretty good. I find the American cartoons for older people (Simpsons, Family Guy, FUTURAMA!) pretty good because they are so satirical.

The Japs sometimes churn out crappy stuff although they make exceptionally good ones also... I hate it when they make over-the-top fan serviced shows (or "summer specials") that tend to ruin everything. Some great shows come up short in the end (Geass). Plus, they do make a lot of cliched shows (although I enjoy some of them).

We also have to factor in the difference in culture. Hollywood is an enormous beast. That's why cartoons have a smaller niche and probably lesser impact as compared to stuff like Benjamin Button. Japan has a greater interest in anime/manga than Americans have for their comics and cartoons. Now if we compare American movies to Japanese movies, it'd be something different, right?

It's unfair to say only Japanese shows have atmosphere. Not all anime are smart; many of them are barely even stimulating (of course, Americans have these problems too).

While american cartoons tend to focus only to few if not one audience, japanese cartoons tend to be open minded about certain subjects. While both borrow certain aspects of each other's media, they are expressed differently. Not to mention the culture gap and the different jokes used. Americans put pure wit and humor which I think is better than most japanese shows while I tend to look at anime for more indept themes in shows.

In my point of view, I think japanese anime is so much better than american comics. It has better drawings like cuter, prettier, cooler and etc. It's also different drawing style I must say but it seems american comics are more blunt, rough, and bulky like. Where as, anime can be just in any form such as, smooth and light and small or even cute and rough and etc. it's hard to explain but ya.

To be blunt Anime just makes you want to eat more of it[especially wiith the detailed characters, sometimes overexaggatered yet exciting plot, as well detailed and good looking characters]<3 emoticon|(C_C)| emoticon It is just so unique compared to your average kiddy show Mickey Mouse.(n_n)/ emoticon

This is like comparing apples and oranges,
two different breeds of a species.

In my opinion it's all about a choice of that particular person's personal preference of animated entertainment.

Gee, by the looks or character design you can really tell...but despite of the way they draw their characters, I really prefer Japanese anime than American anime. Cause sometimes american anime are senseless and stupid...I can't actually relate it to anything than stupidity (sorry for the harsh term). unlike american anime, japanese anime is like a documentary or perhaps journal with a deeper degree of creativity. more to thet, japanese anime usually emphasizes the moral values the story has. it can change one's to view about life, it can move someone into tears and it appeals more to the different genres of life because of its flexibility & seriousness to express an emotion of a particular scene...

in short, japanese anime is more advisable to watch than american anime...

most people say anime is trash maybe because they're not watching "anime" instead their watching "cartoons" and that alone explains why people can't differentiate anime from cartoons cause they only stick to one definition, that "all moving drawing are cartoons.." and vice versa...;( ).. emoticon

Japanese anime in my opinion has better artwork and storyline. American anime can be too long and pointless, with horrible artwork. Japanese anime also has a wider variety.

Ever since I started as a hardcore Anime fan in 1994 with the purchase of Street Fighter, the animated movie, I had the same thought as some of the Anime fans here who think that Japanese animation is much more unique than other art styles.

I think 90% of Japanese Anime that really exists in Japan is probably crap. What we are getting to see in our home countries is barely 10% in other words, in the mean time I don't think that Japanese Animation is so much better anymore than any International Animation in the World. After all those years of Anime Fan being, I guess I really need a change. And what would be better than another innovative flick from Disney or some Disney classics.

Now I think Anime of today is mainstream pure, with ininnovative storylines retold over and over again,...

Japanese anime is a lot better to look at (usually), the storyline is usually better, and it hits a wider age range. Most American cartoons are based for young kids, and the stuff made for older people is just weird. Older American cartoons were good because they were in it for the humor. The only American cartoons that I can watch are the oldies, the superhero ones (ones based of comics), and Avatar:The Last Airbender (one that actually had a storyline/point to it).

What draws me to anime would be:
-Art
-Voice actors
-Storyline

Most American cartoons that I have watched don't exactly have a storyline whatsoever. Just a, bad guy appears and does something, good guys come and save the world. (I may possibly be biased in this view, however, I am open to what others have to say)

The next thing, the voice actors. I've found that the voices in Anime are much more ear friendly to me, as I'm not exactly accustomed to the voices of the actors in the American cartoons. Something about the pitch/depth of their voices which doesn't go well with me.

The art is probably the one thing which I find to draw me to Anime. I'm not saying that American cartoon's have horrible art. They have different art styles and that I can deal with. I just don't think that the art styles which are used in the cartoons appeal to me.

Anime and cartoons are basically the same thing, in a few things. The real difference is that Anime takes cartoons even further. Each one has its pros and cons.

Honestly, I find American cartoons cruel and unpleasant. And I do not want to show it to my children in future. I talk about cartoons with great selling and popularity.
Sure, many Japanese cartoons are terrible too, but you could choose really good anime from gigantic variants.
