I don't see anime as better than the cartoons... I just think american cartoons are meant for a younger audience where as anime can be aimed at a variety of different people from all ages.

Anime i think just has better quality in terms of drawing and their there many different unique stories.

I already mentioned, in the mean time, Anime has become very mainstream in the World's Pop Culture. In my honest opinion the value is going down, especially in terms of storylines which are usually retold only with different characters and different Genres. And the animation of some potential Action Anime isn't what it once used to be anyway.

I would really appreciate if someone from whatever country can invent something better than Japanese Animation and Manga Pop Culture.

I would say because of its stories and visions.
It is wider than just being funny or stupid and they have themes for all groups of people not just children that is why anime is better than American cartoons.

I guess people always put American Cartoon and Japanese Anime together.I don't know why.The American Cartoon has bad display,but anime has good display.anime 's story lines ,characters and musics are better than cartoon 1000000times. Animes always have sexy openings.

Anime is better than American Cartoons simply because of audience and volume. Much more anime is produced than cartoons and the anime that is produced is aimed at a different audience, which leads it to actually have something that most american cartoons lack: plot.

Okay, japanese anime completely owns american anime (no offence). But i find american anime so blunt and hard looking. While Japanese anime gives you a more softer feeling.
I think this is the results of the cultural difference between the two countries.

The countries trying to imitate the "Japanese style" of drawing are even more pathetic. I mean there already IS a style that has manifested itself within the American culture. The job of future generation in America or in any other country should be to evaluate their styles, making it different from Japanese Animation because for me it really gets ass-boring to see that same style and story pattern again and again.

Even though Anime does have some features unique in comparison to American Style, the main audience IS Japanese people, and will always be. And as long as it is like that there will always be the prejudice against Anime and Manga Culture. Japanese People understand their Anime mentality better than any GaiJin fan among us. And besides... not all Japanese people like Anime and Manga Culture, I mean I know some Japanese people here Thailand, and one of them got pissed of because I talked to much about that topic that I lost contact with him as a friend. That taught me a big lesson which I mentioned above...

Okay, now to nowadays... Since Anime has been more or less accepted, civilized in the International Societies around the world (despite some ongoing prejudice), it became really dull, I mean you would meet lots of Kiddie Wannabe Manga Experts who claim to know everything about Anime and Manga when in reality they don't know SH%& and F&$§ about the real meaning and thoughts of the Characters. It's also terrible that International license companies have also "massacred certain Anime" (in other words... edited) in order to make it understandable for the young and thus creating those little clueless monster wannabe experts. That really spoiled the image of Anime and Manga internationally...

In short nowadays you see so much crap which is recycled and published again and again, very uncreative and then maybe 5-10% imported for International release...

I think American cartoon are not focusing on the look, but on the plot and humour.. (see spongebob squarepants)
But japanese is extremely high quality in the outlook.. but not as extreme as american in sense of humour..

Sad, but true, a major part of the next generation of International Anime and Manga Fans doesn't have a clue about the real meaning of Japanese Comic and Animation culture, nor would they care. I mean they do not have the early experiences that we, the earlier generation of fans, had when Manga and Anime were still something special in the heart of a true knowledgeable fan and expert. I said that before, but I hate to hear from so called Experts that they knw everything about Manga when in reality they talk shit.

If we really want Anime and Manga culture to be understood by Western societies, then the earlier generation of fans should set a good example and present it in an educative form on conventions for example...

It's so sad to compair the two really. While they are both two different cultures, two different sets of graphics and two seperate outlooks on story line, when you compare them America, while funny in terms of picking apart the politically correct. Our standard cartoons, storylines, and humor look patheic in compairision to our far eastern neighbors.

American cartoons like simpsons, family guy are ridiculously stupid imo. The humor in it is very childish/immature plus the drawing sucks lol. Anime has a better build to it in general imo.

You said it yourself. Cartoons are for kids. Anime are for all ages. So don't compare the two. Simple. Duh. Besides, anime is really for Japanese people, and we just end up watching the stuff anyway.

Besides, some anime have tons of crap in them--bad drawing, bad stories, cliched characters... It's about as flawed as the Americans as well.
