How is Japanese Anime better than America Cartoons?

American cartoon would be more to like funny, making animal as their lead role and superheroes. (Don't take it hard i really like them anyway). But somehow the Japanese anime would be more to romance, fiction, comedy & so on (quite a long list lol) where they attract to teenagers & kids where as American cartoon they targeting on kids most of the time. Maybe if they release some cartoon targeting teenagers it would be better to compete with the Japanese. Somehow the Jap are getting top spot because their drawing are much better not like too childish. Still America have the chance to fight back but when is it i still don't know.
To me anime has something that most American cartoons don't. A really good drawn out story line. Rather than something totally random. Anime to me really brings you close to the characters. They give them story's, backgrounds,achievements/goals and make it so you can really "get to know" them. I could never say that Ive become attached or really can understand an American cartoon character the way I can with an anime/manga character. I can actually laugh,cry,sympathize with,agree/disagree with an anime character. I think they just have alot more depth to them is what it boils down to for myself.
...I think it depends on what you're after. I mean, I LOVE the Venture Bros. It's freaking funny. I don't think I'm going to find an anime title as witty or relevant to American pop culture - but then again, I'm not really looking for that in an anime. I look to anime for fantastic stories and creative character designs but not really for a laugh.

I like Japanese anime just because of the design of the character,its story and theme are more attractive.But I think Walle is outstanding among the movies I see this year.If there are many anime like that,I think I will gradually love American anime
I don't think i would say that one is really better the other,because their so dififrent. i mean cartoons are great to just sit down and have a good laugh,in which you woulnded really do with a anime,but then with Anime their really good to wach almost like a movie coz they have so much story.
but you have to remember Cartoons are aimed at kids and Anime are aimed at teens to adults.

I really get attached to Anime, much more than American cartoons. Most of the time American cartoons are never things you can take seriously. They don't really go into the characters and show character development. Even more, it seems that their objective is more to get laughs (and funding) rather than focusing on the story and having something that will last with fans.
I wouldn't say that all japanese anime is perfect, sometimes i find that japanese anime take themselves too seriously that they miss how unintentionally hilarious it might come out. However, the pros (good story, great animation, lovable characters, great voice acting) far, far outweigh the cons.

Japanese anime are very much different from American cartoons, a whole lot better too. I find that American cartoons either have weak plots in the story or sometimes(I said sometimes, not often) the character designs or cartoon quality is not very good. I find that Jap Anime tend to have better character designs and better plots(Except for some series like School Days). Most Anime also usually have some episodes that serve the purpose of looking deeper into the characters personalities or backgrounds, something that I don't find very often in American cartoons. WEll, just my thoughts.

I would say Japanese anime is more better than American cartoon. I'm not really sure why but Japanese anime are just simply better than american. Anime has many elements such as romance, comedy, action, adventure and more interactive. Rather than american cartoon, they use big loud word element such as BoM, CRASHH, WHACKK and KACHAAAAA... It really annoys me and given me a lot of proble reading it.
Animes have mostly a better story and different storys. In Cartoons the stories are too monoton(i mean its mostly that a BAD Guy does something bad and a GOOD Guy defeat him). Animes are also for Adults and not just for kids and the have also a much better drawing style. What i really miss in Cartoons is that there hardly ever cute characters(i just love cute characters).

I prefer manga art because I think it looks better. Most of the series or volumes also have better story complexes than American cartoons as well, but that's just my seeing...

because the story line, like clannad 2008 and after story, from school life until nagisa die, not only romance but i really the comedy too, just like sunohara, haha... make me laught so hard.

The japanese anime is better in all, better design , better animation, better characters etc
First I will start by clarifying what I see as the major differences between Anime and Cartoons. Afterwards I will make my statement on which I prefer.
Merriam Webster - :[A Cartoon is] a drawing intended as satire, caricature, or humor. So an animated cartoon is an Animation intended as satire, caricature, or humor.
Anime or rather animation is not limited to being intended as satire, caricature, or humor. Animation is merely a means in which you can tell a story. Therefor, Animated cartoons are animation and X rated Anime is also animation. But the two have very distinctly different intentions.
Quite simple really. As for which I prefer. I prefer animation because, while cartoons are enjoyable, I like reading novels. And Japanese Animation is more likely to provide the character/plot depth that I crave than an American Animated Cartoon.
