Small things that immensely piss you off?
It's happened again today, I see something really, really small that at first glance shouldn't bother me one bit but just somehow, for some reason, pisses me off so much that I just slowly start to hate the other person who did it.
I started noticing this trend when two of my parent's friend's daughters started living at my house, one in middle school and one in high school. They seemed alright at first, I didn't think they were particularly awesome or bad. I started to hate them when I found out that they don't even flush the toilet after taking a crap in our washroom, or don't fully turn the faucet off. Later on there were three consecutive days when they tripped the circuit breaker in their room, in turn shutting all the electronics off in my room. On the second time they did it, I forgave them and said to myself sarcastically that they wouldn't be dumb enough to do it a third time. Then the next night came and surely enough they managed to trip the circuit breakers AGAIN. You'd think that if it was you you would do anything to prevent something like that from happening a third time. In the end it became so repetitive that a small little annoying thing like those accumulated to a whole body of hate for those two girls.
Today I was driving home from school over a bridge and after the bridge the road curved. I noticed, before getting to the curve in the road, while I was still on the bridge, the pickup truck in front of me was driving on two lanes. As the bridge ended and the exit for the bridge was approaching, I started to get closer and closer to the truck to the point where they were close to my front fender. It was at night so I had my headlights on so I thought that they would've seen me in their mirrors. All that happened on the bridge section. When it came time to get off the bridge via the aforementioned curved road, I thought to myself sarcastically, "They wouldn't be dumb enough to cut into my lane as we're making that turn". Surely enough the idiot driver did. I scrambled all over my steering wheel to hit the horn. I got so pissed off I pulled up beside him and looked at him to see if he was drunk or anything. After getting home I was still in shock, shocked at the fact that something I treated so sarcastically, because I thought no one would be dumb enough to do it, actually pulled it off.
I don't know about how others would've reacted to the bridge incident. A similar story applies to when I was driving my dad to the airport at night, near the same bridge and I still remember the image of the red Honda Fit crossing into my lane, almost hitting me. Do people normally get pissed at small things like this? You know that for a lot of these cases, there usually no big consequence at first, but you know they add up. For example, if someone asked to lend your calculator, you lend it to them, no big deal. Then several weeks later you're taking a test and the batteries in your calculator dies. Then you get irritated at the fact that had you not lent your calculator to him you would've passed the test.
Am I a super-cynical person? Go ahead, be straightforward and call my cynical if you'd like. I just want to know if it's normal for normal people to be pissed off at such insignificant things in our lives.

Aren't we all cynical to some degree?
About those two girl. I think anyone would've been irritated by their actions. I mean come on, flushing the toilet and turning of the tap? That's basic. If I were in your place, i would've given those two a night long lecture.
You have every right to be upset about it.

If you are then I am too, I have even smaller things than that that make me want to smack someone.
I can't stand anyone touching the top of my head for one, I just smack everyones hand away that even comes near it, it annoys me to no end, I almost screamed at my mom once for doing it.
And just the other day someone was requesting me to make a layout for them and he went to one of my affiliates who is a good friend and asked them first then went behind their backs to come and ask me like an idiot thinking that I wouldn't know, there are only THREE big anime/manga graphics sites on neo and we're all good friends and pretty much tell each other everything thats going on. Already annoyed I asked him what he wanted the theme to be and he had to wait a day between each mail I sent him like I have all the time in the friggin world to decipher it out from the tiny tidbits of info he was giving me what he actually wanted. So I said screw it, dropped his request and blocked him.
Yeah I'd say I get ticked off easier than you. xD

And I agree with halo6cute, unless your the biggest pushover in the world that would probably irritate you.

At times I can be the most easygoing person. Nothing will hardly ever bother me. But yeah, definitely, there are certain peeves that get on my last nerve.
There's a few things, not necessarily superficial, grates my tolerance.
For instance, someone who just spews ignorance about a certain subject. When they are so sure they know what they're talking about, but clearly they do not.

For better or worse, everyone has their own little buttons that must not be pressed. I must say, not flushing a toiled after using it is quiet sad. If I was in your place I would not be as angry at those two as I would be at their parents that have failed to educate them something as basic as that. Look at it this way, when you will have your own children this should be one of the reasons for you to raise your children properly.
As for the driver incident, things like that happen all the time. Just be glad that it didn't end up being a car accident thanks to your skill realizing that drivers mistake.
I am not saying that you should not be pissed, because I know for sure I would be pissed as well. I mean little things like someone driving ten miles under the speed limit in a one lane road in front of me, or cutting me off without a turn signal, or staying on hold for too long because the secretary forgot that she had a call, all these little things are enough to make anyone be angry. But do not let it drive you nuts, or make you do bad things.
This might be a bit off topic, but good things happen that way as well. Many little good things happen each day, they are just not as noticeable as the bad things. Instead of focusing on the bad things, try to remember the good things that have happened as well.
For bad things that happen take them in as they come and let it go. And things that last like the two girls living at your house that don't go away, try to settle them so it does not happen again. I don't know if that was any help to you, but I hope everything works out for you.

You may be to a certain extent, but i wouldnt say to the same level as me.
a lot of small things piss me off. For starters, slow walkers. I really love when people decide to walk so sllloowww. Oh, why not overtake them? Theres a whole friggin crowd of them. And since theyre all "socializing" they take up the whole corridor, sidewalk or any form of walking area. Or what about those people that have a friggin earphone/heaphones BUT WAIT, lets play music to the max and use it as a radio! Brilliant idea! NOT
Those are the general ones, other more personal ones are people that touch my hair or step on my shoes. I really hate it. Oh, also when im listening to music, i just love it when some guy/girl is really pushy to start a conversation. Ever heard of leaving a guy to his own madness?
How about this one? I go to dl some "alledgedly" higher quality anime release and i see this tiny friggin pixel glitch in front on my face. My blood starts boiling.
*sigh*
Well, thats about the end of my rant. (i might add more)
So yeah Longbow, your situation...totally normal.

Nope. You are actually pretty normal. I get more pissed off at smaller things trust me.
For example: I have a laptop for school ((as in the school said YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS TYPE FROM US)) and though we have tech guys they totally fail and didn't give us 1)admin rights or 2) anti-virus programs. So when I got a virus I had to get it RE-IMAGED. Everything. Gone. Wiped out. When I got it back I went into an imediate re-boot mode and uploaded everything I lost, but the worst part is that the font I had everything in had disappeared and I couldn't get it back. I was so stressed out that I cried. Because of a font. Right. See? you aren't bad at all.
beside that I hate when people touch me with their feet, play with my hair, ask dumb questions, or when an Album on iTunes doesn't have artwork. The list goes on for ages.

You are not cynical at all and in the three incidents you described, I would have to agree with your frustration one hundred percent! Especially on the "non-flushing" part. I'm not a non-flusher and I share your frustration. I used to work in restaurant management and I would often find that men and women were equally the culprits of these heinous crimes. I absolutely agree with you, it is totally gross and disgusting. It takes all of a fraction of a second to flush a commode. But what's more alarming and disturbing is the fact that many of these same toilet users doesn't even bother to wash their hands afterwords. Some of them are, professionals and highly educated individuals whom one would think were equally educated in the good hygiene practices department. But sadly no, they're not or they simply do not care. They carry traces of their feces, urine, nasal mucus, saliva, and only God knows what else; back to the work environment contaminating every single thing they touch.
That's why there is always so many colds, flu, viruses, etc., floating and lurking around the offices and workspace of every industry, corporation, company and business in existence; because of those nasty a** people who need to receive some mandatory jail time for each offense committed. I get really pissed off about this issue and if anyone thinks that I'm a cynical person for this then you are one of the non-flushing culprits!

There was this roommate of mine from college. We lived together for four years, and she's still my best friend even though I haven't seen her in a few months. But one thing that always got to me about her is she never replaced the toilet paper roll. She always just laid the new roll on top of the dispenser, instead of taking the thirty seconds to take off the old roll and slide the new one on. It drove me insane! And there's my sister who comes in from the pool and doesn't wring out her swimsuit, and then she just hangs it on the doorknob so a nice big puddle forms, and then when I come in, of course I slide all over the tile from it and just about crack my skull open.
I hate when people cut me off in traffic. 'Nuff said. I suffer a little from road rage. I hate it when women (I don't know if men do this, I don't make it a habit of going into mens' restrooms) go into a public restroom and are chatting away on their cell phones. I mean, come on, one stall over, someone's trying to have a pee and the woman next door is talking about what her boyfriend did to her last night in bed. I really hate it when people in a public child-oriented place swear loudly. I was once at a kid's birthday party at Build-a-Bear's and this group of older boys the next table over kept saying, "F this, F that." I don't have anything against swearing because I swear plenty myself, but at least I try to watch my mouth around kids because I don't want them to emulate me.

I have many of these, for I (like my dad) am a very short-fused person. Right now, I can only name off two things at the top of my head. One, which happens just about EVERY MORNING, is that my brother in law ALWAYS leaves a dirty diaper in the sink (we have two sinks, one is for washing my nephew's butts, and the other for me brushing my teeth and whatnot) and I always have to be the one to throw it away, since I need to use the sink. Sure, it was no big deal for the first few days, but it grew to the point where it happened for about a month, straight (he's not doing it anymore, but I think that's because my dad started to complain as well).
Another is a very general one. I absolutely despise people that NEVER read the description (or the "more info") section on YouTube. As a result, they always leave mean comments and whatnot, which they probably wouldn't have done if they had READ the description. Same goes for people that ask questions and the answers have been in the description section. It might be a small thing to others, but it just pisses me off so much.

Nah it's totally normal to be annoyed at such things. Im also one of those people who get annoyed by simple small things.
Can you believe im annoyed by the sound of people gulping down water? (You know, the "glug..glug" sound) o_o Even i don't understand why it bothers me, but it just does.
Another thing that annoys me is when people show-off and are so self-absorbed.
Yeah that annoys me too. Some people just could'nt be bothered to read descriptions and starts to ask questions which have already been answered in the description. .__.

These problems would get on our nerves; living with another human being long enough would drive you mad (Friends remain friends for they don't have to stand each other for 24/7 and for Marriage, divorce was made available.) Please don't be offended with what I'm about to say. I hate people, not just people here or there but, humanity in general, including myself. I am being a hypocrite for typing this and just by existing now yes, but, in my opinion the human race is worthless; we only think for ourselves, our own improvement and benefit. While some animals tend to help and assist each other, we take from these animals with usually nothing in return. Humanity has created a society in which there is little if none compassion. There is always "ruling" class that I am most probably not part of for I complain about it. No one can understand each other; for each one of us, the universe only centers on that one person. I especially hate myself, I've done wrong to myself and others, my personality also leave little to be desired. As some might say, the reason I say this is, my life sucks, I'm complaining about it because it is so and if that my life was better, I wouldn't, that is true, I might not have complained about because it would never have occurred to me. Quite frankly, I'm sick of humanity right now, and yet it is still myself that keeps me from getting away from it all (see how stupid I am?). People complain about other people because what else is there to do about it, it already happened and so far what's left is just annoyance and an experience. Still, from what I wrote, I don't expect anything to happen; it's just what irritates me. Sorry for those offended.
Everyone has certain little things that bug them - the main one for me is just people making noise like chewing with their mouth open, slurping soup/coffee, having music too loud, constant sniffling, etc. There's lots of other things that bug me too, but I wouldn't even know where to begin. :P
I generally stop being annoyed pretty quickly - but I certainly still get annoyed. ;)
