Do you feel guilty and remorse when you download anime and song
When you downloading some anime or song you like the most do you consider that to be pirating or do you think that's a crime you committed because technically you are not supporting the creator it self so in this point do you have some guilty or remorse about downloading anime or song
some anime before it is release usually it will be release in licensed but before that it only anime show that can be release later well I also buy some anime but mostly I downloaded from site

I never feal remorse cause usually when its released in a different country the anime has been edited for eithr content or language wich i dont beleive it should since it is going against the creators vision and its not up to him to make sure little kids dont watch it its up to their parents
To be honest, I've downloaded so much anime and music to the point where the guilt doesn't even exist since i've done it so often, and ALL of my anime friends do it so it's not like i'm the odd one out. i know it's illegal, but the anime industry doesn't seem to be complaining about a huge loss of money due to constant downloading so... i mean... it's right there... so why not?
I haven't downloaded anime, but I download music like it is legal.
I do not feel any remorse and I guess that is because I am greedy. I will buy an actual CD if I really like something, or want to support an artists' album sales. But I know that artists make their money thru touring, so i do not feel like when i download that i take money from them. Buying concert tickets is how I feel like I really support an artist.
As for manga, I read a ton of that online and I do usually buy the magazines and books when i have the spare cash.

Nah... After I see an anime, I delete it.
Just like Taru-cha I've lost the guilt/remorse, can't even remember if I had any to begin with. But I do feel paranoid about getting caught by the cable company or the licensing companies.
I definitely feel guilty. If I was an anime creator I would be angry to know that people steal my stuff. A lot of people don't realize that purchasing anime is very important. Companies aren't going to continue to distribute it if no one buys it. Perhaps Geneon would still be here. A lot of companies will an anime's popularity based on how much they sell.
Voice actors don't make a lot of money. If more were willing to pay for things, then maybe they would get paid more. Heck, maybe more people would be willing to get involved in the business.
I know the Japanese creators don't make anime just so it can be made into English, but it provides a lot of jobs for people who make the DVD's, make the subs, directing. Stealing takes away a lot of opportunities for other people.
When ever I watch an anime online, I put it on a list that I promise to buy the DVD's for. You don't have to steal to watch anime online. I know there a lot of choices, but you can episodes legally on funimation.com and hulu.com. I know naruto.com has Shippuden available. The only catch is that you have to watch commercials to pay for what you watched.
When it comes to music, I can understand why people steal it. It very difficult to find Japanese music for purchase outside of Japan. The only time I see it, they want $50 for one CD.

I think
for anime creator
popularity is more important than money, for example : downloading anime
so keep it up
but If you like the anime, support the anime's artist and purchase their CD/DVD/blue ray.

Downloading anime:
No remorse. Anime outsourced to American companies will almost always screw it up. Take Speed Racer and more recently Dragonball: Evolution as examples. DB:E managed to score an impressive 3.2 on IMBD.com. I told myself a few weeks ago that "I'll watch DB:E no matter how bad it is" but now I'm rethinking that. This trend has followed in anime. I'm not going to make a list of why I think they're bad, but they usually are. There *are* times when they get things just right, take Mikuru's English voice actor in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which, as rare as it is, they managed to find the perfect voice actor. But as I said, it's rare for this to occur. That's one reason why I don't feel guilty downloading anime when I don't understand the original language, the other is more of an unknown mentality I have. I don't like to read manga in English either. Everyone can bash me all you guys want from here on out, but to me it just seems wrong. Maybe it's because every time I read the dialogue I imagine the characters speaking in English, which seems impossible for me. As for anime, this is overridden by the Japanese dialogue with the subtitles supporting what they say.
Downloading music:
I do feel bad for downloading songs that are really, really good. I still downloading and listen to them but not without zero remorse, at least for the extremely good songs. There are exceptions I guess, like songs from the SNES or other older games where it is impossible to get or find, sometimes you're lucky to find one on the net. But for those songs that can be easily bought, I'm starting to feel like I should buy at least some of it. The reason I don't is because my parents strongly frown down on buying things that you can just freely obtain. They think of me as ridiculous for buying a game after I've already finished it from downloading it. That said, this remorse goes for good games too. Sometimes after I play a game and I feel like it's really good I seriously want to buy the full version. Of course if the game is crap you delete it off your hard drive.
Slightly off topic but an interesting subject is something I read on a blog a few weeks ago, and it's how fansubs increase the sales of other anime goods, such as figures, shirts, art books, and the like. I'm on the fence on this one, since, having downloaded dozens of fansubbed anime, I have bought other anime merchandise like figures and t-shirts. I just feel like I should still be buying the animes from Japan (even if I can't understand it).

Oh, I would. I would feel so much remorse... if I knew there was any kind of possibility that I could buy/watch it here legally. That makes me pretty much guilt free, as the only thing even close to that happening is either Spirited Away being shown in about two cinemas in the entire country for about half a day or some half-assed attempts on a cable (which only airs half a day, half of which is some old animated cartoons, the other half mostly kids' anime, with some exceptions). I fully intend to support any anime (that I'd watch) should it be released on DVD here (I do have the already mentioned Spirited Away, in Czech and English dubbing, despite the cover's claim of original Japanese - I also have Spirited Away, in Japanese, with English subtitles, downloaded from the Internet. I only watched the DVD once with great disgust.), but as it stands, ordering from Internet shops is not only too costly, but also completely nonsensical to me.
As for music, I'm fairly certain most of what I listen to would be impossible to find here anyway, so similar lack of guilt there.

I try to get CDs, but I certainly don't sweat it when I download music. If it's for a game or anime, I probably already own it anyways, so I sort of feel entitled. If I download a show, there's a good chance I've already seen it before or owned it at one point in time.
If anything else, downloading songs actually makes me want to buy the obscure CDs more. It already happened with Lunatic Festa (though I'm still looking for a copy of disk one, something I doubt I'll find on sale in this country ever).

Never felt anything like that really. Since those things are like soo not available or hard limited edition in my country, so I have no choice. But even though I don't feel remorse or what I would still buy the original one if I had a chance of course, its just that its hard to find an original copy here in my homeland...
Yeah I know its piracy, but they should have at least send some copy in other countries you know...

I buy 95% of my music off of itunes, so no guilt there. Once in a blue moon I download music from a torrent, and it's usually because it's a song or soundtrack I can't get off of itunes (like the OST for the j-drama, RESCUE).
As for anime, I watch fansubs, and as soon as it is licensed, I buy it. I don't buy anime blindly anymore, because looks can be very deceiving on boxart here. Like Red Garden for example. That show sucks the big one, but the box art is gorgeous. Good thing I downloaded the first episode and flagged it as a "stay away" title. On the flipside, I watched Air, and then bought it. if I had seen the DVD's in stores I would have said "wtf is that shit?" and ran away screaming.
Thats me though. I know 90% of the people that watch fansubs won't buy it. That would be part of the reason that the industry is going in the shitter. Anime companies in japan make money when funimation, ADV and the rest license their stuff. if the companies here don't do well, they probably won't be taking down any Japanese companies with them, but they may cause a bit of pain to them financially.

I've bought several anime series and gobs of cd's but when i download the files I don't really feel guilty at all. I'd buy more anime if the price wasn't so high $40-$60+ for a single cd with something like 6 eps on it is two high for me right now. and as far as cd's go well i stay loyal to the bands and artists i like and i almost always buy there new stuff as long as it stays good. But if there's a new band out that might only have one or two good songs on the album then i'll grab the torrent and wish them luck in the fast food industry. Or if it's a band like say LP there old stuff great, their new stuff bleh. but if one of my friend or relatives wants to listen to them but they don't have the cash for the album i'll grab the torrent and throw it on a thumb drive and let them have it. But I have never felt guilty about any of it.
I only download songs but not an anime!! Just bying anime songs - they are just too expensive!! But I only buy animes and mangas^^for animes its not to expensive 'cause when I would download them the quality wouldn't be perfect and I hate that!!
