Is it possible to fall in love with an anime character?
2 months 6 days ago
I wouldn't say falling in love with the anime character is possible (as in, lusting after something that doesn't exist in REAL life). However, I think that by 'falling in love with an anime character' really means that someone is falling in love with the representation of the anime character, or the concrete IDEA of the anime character him/her self. What I mean by this is that it's impossible to 'love' a fictional character, but it IS possible to 'love' the idea, the wish of that fictional character being real in reality. Maybe if that anime charcater's personality/character existed in real life, then they would be 'loved' by the person.

Well, I fell in love with anime characters quite often. Maybe because I am not exactly attractive and I don't hope that I will find someone that I would love in real life . XD

I think it is possible to have an infatuation with an anime character, or have a crush on them, or lust for them. But to me, love is a two sided thing, so it can never really happen with an anime character. Then again, it is possible to fall in love with the personality of a character, and then find it in a person? but that would probably be very rare to find, especially for the sort of people who would fall in love with anime characters...
Absolutely! It never happened to me but I just have a thing for Spitfire in Air Gear and Dante =D
I know someone who's head over heels in love with Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet..actually more than one. So it's not only anime but any fictional character.
I think mainly that when someone sees a character with traits they look for in the opposite sex the mind just starts revolving around that character. Eventually they'll feel really attached to these fictional characters.

YES! Absolutely YES! LOL.
I'm in love with anime character(s) now.
Don't know why, I don't really care about the real world.
If you are in love with an anime character, then you're still normal. They are actually living on another dimension. (Please don't mind my last two dummy sentences, haha)

Needless to say, it si possible to fall in love with an anime character for crazy anime fans including me^^ for the addicted of anime, i think falling in love with an anime character is critically usual. they usuall allege an anime caracter they love cruelly is their wife!
You can't fall in love with a character, because they are fictional creations. But you can fall in love with the idea or the concept of the character.
It's impossible because the characters are not real. Can you fall in love with a movie character, a book character? I think not.
Of course you can!
There is a difference between love and being in love, the latter being defined by infatuation and obsession. Think of the feeling when you first fall for someone - you notice a person you like, or something about them, you daydream about how that person is in real life, what it would be like to interact with them, you create scenes in your mind - and then you actually get to know them. With anime characters, there is no opportunity to progress to the next level. Hence, the infatuation lingers.
Also, the more empathy you have with a character, the more likely you are to experience emotions mirroring their experiences, and so you build up an emotional connection. Emotional connections do not require real people, but rather something of significance to you (like the teddy bear you've had since you were two, or feeling happy whenever you smell pancakes, just for the sake of illustration :P)
Infatuation + emotional connection + personality prone to obsessions = a person very much in love with Death Note's L (Lawliet)

There personalities consist often mainly of things we consider as atractive, (their looks anyway), so it appears natural to me that some people fall in love. Also I think you can fall in love with almost everything... (there are people obsessed with certain items).
All this stuff didn't happen to me though. I by the way also think, that your understanding of love is constantly developing, so later you might have other criteria of what feelings love consist for you.

I wouldn't say I'd be "in love" with them but let's just say, it just makes you a fanboy. It is possible though especially for men who are *cough* you-know *cough*. ._.

It's great. I dreamed of living with Kaori Saeki,Hiroko Takashiro ,Yukiko Minase,Imari and some girls. XD
I wouldn't say fall in love...
I prefer being attracted.Falling in love is a strange feelng even when it comes to life between true human beings..
I am attracted to anime characters. The thing is what makes them attractive. For me just the idea that there is someone out there who might resemble my fav anime character this makes it even more attractive.
