flyleafus*nod* I do feel it is possible to fall in love not just with anime characters but with any fictionalized character. My reasoning is that in fiction the author can create an idealized person. In fact in many animes (I'm thinking harem and reverse harem here) the author often creates many idealized characters to fit many tastes. Just look at Ouran High School Host Club, that show really explains and even does a bit of self ridicule on the subject. Now whether falling in love with idealized people is a good thing, is a completely different question.

I don't really think true love is actually applicable for this... more of like obsession and that the biggest thing you can do if you think you're in love with a character.
I do have obsessions though, but I could never consider them as love no matter how much I try since they're fictional and non-existent in the real world. :X

I guess you can fall in love with an anime character... but that would be quite twisted... I mean you can't date a unreal character, it can't talk back to you, and it can't love you back... How and why the hell would you fall in love with a character when you can have the real deal in front of you! You can like a charcter but being attracted to it? and falling in love with it?

It's scary, but there are a few cases of extreme obsession with fictional characters to the point of hallucination and insanity. Look it up.
I think it's possible. I haven't done it myself, however I have fallen for the ideals and characteristics that some characters may represent, and have sought them out with real people. Unfortunately this is often unsuccessful, as the characters are specifically designed and created specifically to appeal to a certain audience. Often you'll find that these characteristics don't exist in real people. Which makes me wonder how long it will take for persocoms to come into existence.

Well, I think it's possible. My friend was in LOVE with Edward Cullen so bad that she even started "talking to 'herself'" and turned down people who asked her out claiming "I already have a boyfriend". Since I hate twilight, it seriously pissed me off. It bugs me when anyone becomes a way-too-dedicated fan of some character. Part of me is because I know they will never meet so the obsession goes unheard, and partly because, my immature side goes "What are you doing drooling over so-andso? They're mine!"
Of course, not for anyopne from twilight. Ew.
