As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

Unfortunaly, i think it is. After watching soo much anime, i have picked out numerous characters that i love. Then when i look at people in real life, it disappoints me because they dont look half as good.

Get a crush is certainly possible, but falling in love with a 2D anime character prisoner of a screen?
Not for me :)

Why not?
They're ten times more interesting than real people and a hundred times more attractive. ;)
Of course, this is coming from a person who avoids real life at all costs...
Anyways, I know I've definitely developed "crushes" on anime characters in the past (in sixth grade I had a bit of a thing for Tamahome from Fushigi Yugi, and for a while my adoration of Light Yagami knew no bounds). I've never fallen in love with an anime character before, but it's bound to happen someday. xD

I fell in love with a character the first time I watched an anime, lol. It was one of the characters on .dot hack/ sign Then Cartoon Network nixed the series before I even knew what it was about. I havn't fallen in love with a character since.

I mean...heh...wow, good question...

In my personal opinion, yes you can be infatuated with an anime character (which is something i personally experience twice every other day XD)

but when you LOVE somebody, you have to be able to seriously put them ahead of yourself, and (if they were real) actually sacrifice yourself for them. that's my definition of love.

that means i actually love like...4 anime characters...thats a lot of sacrifice :)

Huh, well I don't know about IN LOVE, but I had the biggest crush on Yuki Sohma for a very very long time. I think it's easy to feel close to anime characters because (1) you see into their lives through anime and manga and feel like you understand them and (2) because they can't hurt you or reject you because they are not real. So I guess the possibility could exist.

I grew out of Yuki. My love right now is GACKT lol.

I think it would be more like fan love. I'm a big fan of Lelouch from Code Geass. But 1) he's not real. 2) Do I really LOVE LOVE him? 3) I want him to end up with C.C.

I'm a huge fan and love him I guess as an "idol."

I can only speak for myself and the answer is ..no. I like many characters a lot but it´s just an anime character. It can´t kiss you :-)

I would say no. I've had characters that I liked in the past, but I wouldn't call it love. An infatuation, perhaps, but more like an obsession than actual love. I believe that how people view "love" can vary, so this is merely my opinion, but I don't think that you can honestly be in love with someone you've never even met. It takes an actual relationship with someone to say you're in love with them, and that's clearly not possible with a cartoon character. I don't think that means you don't have to like elements about a character, though. I think it's fine to say that you admire a character's sense of chivalry, for example.

The problem with thinking you "love" an anime character is that it can warp your expectations of reality. Characters are often idealized, and that can be problematic when you have to deal with real people, because no one is perfect. (Even if a character is popular because he/she is flawed, they're still technically perfectly imperfect...) So I think it's healthy to admire a character, but not to be obsessed.

There is a similarity between loving a fictional character and loving a dead person. Both the dead and the fictional exist in the thoughts of the real and living. Hence, our manner of interacting with the dead is like unto the manner of interacting with fictional characters.
