Should squaresoft make a remake of final fantasy 7 for the ps3
Hell yes! it would honestly be on of the greatest profiting ideas. The game is great as it is but you have to admit that you would love to play it with amazing CG. If Advent Children got alot a hype for its release dob't would think that a remastered vsn of the game get even more? Plus my PSN isnt working and my PS2 hates PSN games XP

First of all I would probably even buy a PS3 when SE would make a remake, just to play it.
I don't think it's necessary at all though. I'm perfectly fine with the original game, which I enjoy as it is. I've never been a graphics-fag, so I don't care what the game looks or sounds like. The story is just simply among the best video game storylines of all time, gameplay, and just evrything is pure win.
Also people, who own the PC version of the game like I do have opportunities like the REUNION patch (for better char models), high-res background patches, music patches to exchange the MIDIs with .MP3 files and so on to make the game more appealing.
Also it's a fact that a remake will not
be made. Nomura himself stated in an interview 1 or 2 years ago (I'm sorry I don't remember the date), that the production of a remake would on the one hand take a lot longer than creating a new FF game (and we all know how long it takes them to make a new title nowadays, I mean look at Xi and versusXi...) and on the other hand it would cost a significant amount of money more than a new one. Thus it wouldn't be profitable for Square-Enix, even when all the fans would going to buy it. (Square-Enix are a lot more profit-orianted then they used to be in my honest opinion...)
He also said that FFVII should be appreciated as the game it was and the fans should play the original if they like it and look forward to new Final Fantasy titles instead of craving for remakes all the time.
Many people also thought a FFVII remake was possible after the release of the FFVII PS3 Tech Demo, but Nomura said furthermore that this was not to show the audience what FFVII would look like on PS3, but the graphical capabilities of the PS3 generally. FFVII was simply put just a means to an end in this case.
Of course they could change their mind at anytime... who knows? Well we'll see.
Maybe we get a remake for PS4 lol =P

...That would be lovely even if I don't have PS3...
I mean, REMAKE FF7! I want to see Cloud in CG xDD
Plus, they should be able to milk out lots of profit from the remake if it doies happen...

Oh man if they remade FF7 I would be ALLLLL over that
I wasnt one of the people who got to play the game when it first came out, and for a long time didnt play it because I didnt like box graphics. But I recently went back and played it and really enjoyed myself. I even found myself going back and playing other old games I had passed up as well. They would make so much bank if they remade FF7

At one point I remember reading on Kotaku that Nomura states that him and his staff want to make it, and that as long as there are people that want it and people who want to make it, he won't proclaim "The End" for that, but he also stated that the rumors are/were just rumors at that point and that he can;t confirm that they are working on it at all or not.
But I think that was about 2 years ago or so. So I can imagine things have most certainly changed since then.
Honestly though, I'm not too psyched about FFXi. They are putting out like 6 different games, and honestly to me, the vanilla FFXII doesn't sound all that great to me. I will buy it and play it, like how I did with FFXII, oddly enough I said simular things about XII, and I actually liked and enjoyed XII, granted, I didn't like the battle system then, and I still don't like it. But that is one thing I look forward to in Xi, that brought back the ATB system of sorts.
But as was also already stated, if they redo FFVII there will be a lot of changes to try to make it mainstream I think, they'd screw up the battle system, and make changes to the story line. I think they'd get Nobuo Uematsu to hire on contractually to do the soundtrack. I bet he would enjoy actually orchestrating all the tracks for the game. That is, as long as they don't change a bunch of the music.

I think it would be fantastic! The FFVII story was so awesome and memorable and is what gained it it's main fan base. I think if they remade it with the use of the awesome graphics available today it would do great and would make them a ton of money. I think alot of the new generation of gamers are missing out because probably alot of them wouldnt play it because of the graphics. Although, like someone said they are focusing hard right now on their release of 13 and 14. Maybe sometime after that. Im already buying a PS3 just for 13 so it would be a great bonus to be able to get a remade VII too..lol.

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't want a remake. I didn't like the original - I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. I never made a connection with the characters and couldn't care less what happened to them. In the past 10 years, I have had no desire to pick up the game and try again, though I have with other PSX titles I still have. (In the drawer under my TV I have my copies of FF8, Spyro, Chrono Cross and a couple other PSX titles.)
I'd rather they put their effort towards a totally new title. That's what I've always liked about the FF series - other than FFX-2, I can pick up any title and enjoy it without feeling at all lost. I have to admit FFX-2 is the weakest of the ones I've played (FF8-12, excluding 11).

I think it would be great if they did remake FFVII. Seeing as how they made that tech demo and it looked really awesome. and when you play Crisis Core FF at the end it said To Be Continued, so it could be possible if they remake it. Maybe, maybe not who knows.
It would probably boost PS3 sales by a lot, but it's hard to exactly say if it'll profitable on Square's side.
In any case, I don't expect to see a remake of FF7 for quite some time, not at least until they decide to remake FF5 and FF6.

NO!! I may be one of the few die hard Final Fantasy fans (got the tattoo to prove it lol) to say this. It's like messing with a great piece of art, like a painting from the renaissance because you think it would look more beautiful modern. Of course times have changed and we have found more ways to make art, but that doesn't mean the classics should change.

I would love it if Square-Enix did a remake of Final Fantasy VII. In my opinion, they should base the battle system off Final Fantasy XII, as Final Fantasy XII's battle system was very good. I would also hope that when they do the dialogue for English version of the game that they do a good job, because I feel that some of the voice actors in the English versions of Final Fantasy games do not do a job compared to the actors of the Japanese versions. I would like to see more extra bosses as they are one of the best things about the Final Fantasy games.

Hell yes! I would buy it in a heartbeat

Yeah! A remake in my opinion is unquestionably going to happen. SE would make tons of money off of it. And I'm pretty sure they wont pass up the opportunity. I just worry that if they did decide to make it, I hope they retain the level of excitement it instilled me 8 or 9 years ago..

I'm not entirely sure if they should make a remake of Final Fantasy VII. First off-- FFVII was an amazing game, although now it's sort of losing it's touch (graphics-wise, etc.) but an amazing game regardless. To be perfectly honest, I would by a PS3 just for the remake of FFVII if they made one, however I don't feel that they could pull it off. Square hasn't been making Final Fantasy games as great as they once were ever since they merged with Enix. Look at the past couple FF games that came out... FFX-2 was terribly mediocre in comparison. I almost couldn't bare to finish. And FFXII wasn't too great. In my opinion, the new combat system that was used for FFXII wasn't as good as the normal ATB they've been going with for years. I do however appreciate the non-random encounters, allowing a quicker pace of gameplay (from roaming to battle).
To be completely honest, I suppose I just don't want Enix to screw up a classic such as FF7. As much as I would love a remake, I fear that it may be for the worse.
Plus.. I don't want to buy a PS3 lol.
