Ever try watching Anime around other people?

I always watch anime by myself. Mainly since I dont know anyone else that watches anime or enjoys it. I also feel really stupid watching anime in front of my family. I usually just watch anime on my labtop while laying on my bed.

It depends on my mood and genre of anime. Comedy is better to watch the weight of the company, but the romance-alone or with your lover. Serious anime too, better watch one, especially me, because we always laugh with му friend over all)

I guess if your in the public such as a car dealership, it'd be weird for sure. But I often watch anime/dramas with both some guy and girl friends and I think its fine. Just some times the girls gets all teary eyed and yeah..
I generally don't mind if there are people around when I watch anime. A lot of people around here grew up watching stuff like Mazinger Z, Robotech, Astroboy, Ranma, Saint Seiya and other shows, so now anime is seen as something kind of normal.

I`m only ever watching anime alone or with my girlfriend. None of my friends are as into anime as I am, or into anime at all. It`s just awkward watching with them because they all think I like it too much. It`s nice to watch it with my girlfriend because I think she`s the only other person I know who likes it almost as much as I do, if not more.
I wouldnt have a problem with it. If I happened to be somewhere where I had my laptop on me and had a long wait time or something I would slap on my headphones and watch. I really dont go too many places where the situation would arise though. Me and my husband watch together.

Well i don't always Lug around my laptop when ever i am out, but i do watch anime on my Cell phone (nokia 5800) on the trains on the way to work and i don't get the kind of feeling like what you get.
To me its perfectly all right watching anime out in the public. Those guys that are staring you maybe thought why is an adult watching cartoon? Well anyway don't need to get paranoid with it.

I never watching anime in public because people will look me like a boy and I can't stand with their comments indeed. Looks like I have no job and just sitting and watching anime all the times. Actually, that's my hobby and they don't about it. So, I prefer alone or share with someone really interested with it.
For me, depends of the situation.
I prefer to watch anime alone, because almost always I'm the only on the group that's seeing certain anime, and I have more fun watching it without other people. But, anime such as Bleach and Naruto I prefer to see with other people because most of my otaku friends are following these series, then, is more fun to watch the episodes with my friends.

I'm actually agreeing with a lot of people in this thread!
I have to watch it alone...seriously. People are always looking over my shoulder, giving me strange looks and if that's not enough, they start complaining about their "strange" appearance.
That really grinds my gears.
If you're too close-minded to not be able to see the beauty in something that is outside your culture then I have lost faith in our civilization...seriously.
I'm just glad there are communities like these that restores my faith.

It's fun to watch it when my parents are around because of their expressions. They just don't get it. I watch anime with my friends normally, so that's no problem. I sometimes watched anime at college since no one cared, but I wouldn't do it in front of a group of people who didn't know what it was.
I prefer watching it alone, mainly because of the same reason as most people here. It'll be a different story if I had anime-lover-friends for a company though.

I watch it when no one is around. I don't mind it when my sister is around though. So I have to pause a lot especially when people are around.
Most of my friends, if not all, think I'm a retard for watching anime so I keep it to myself. I don't mind it as long as it's a form of entertainment.
