I would like to know where you guys get your avatars and signatures, because mine aren't made special like yours. Tell me all you know.

You can make them in image editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop, The GIMP Paintshop Pro or any advanced editing programs out there. and you posted in the wrong section too...
Or...You could also use sites that create signatures and avatars you just need to add some specifications and they will create you avatar!

Looking at your avatar and signature, I'd think you should use images that are high quality. The picture quality in anime isn't as good as you think, when you put it into use. Just get Photoshop or something and get a render off the internet. Then just follow some tutorial on the internet and you'll end up with something relatively good.

You can either make them using a program for graphics such as photoshop, gimp, paintshop pro etc. You can even use a basic one like microsoft paint!
It doesn't have to be very fancy, you can just take a picture and crop it or resize it. Maybe add some words and a border if you want?
If you don't want to do that, you can always do a search on it, try googling or something.

I find it at yahoo or google, but I usually find it at scan galleries here(Animepaper)! Then I modified it with Corel and Adobe Photoshop! I you feel that your avatar looks big, then You can resize it!

I try to make my own. Like this one I did I think it looks fairly well done.
I make them myself. The avatar I'm using here comes from a Utena wallpaper I did some time ago, I cut that bit with Anshii and Utena.

The GNU Image Manipulation Program - GIMP is a free image editing program and is quite good overall. it isn't quite as good as photoshop, but it is a good alternative for people that can't afford Photoshop
Pick your favorite character, scan, artwork or whatever pictures you like to have as avatar, get photoshop and do whatever you like in the picture, it has all effects you want as well as filters for beginners.
Limit Break
A good idea would be to use the scan gallery and the zoom feature, then cut out the spots you want. Or like was said, an image search on Google or someplace would work well too.
Get Photoshop ^_^. That's how I make mine.
