Understanding Tags
We understand that some of you may not understand the purpose of tags yet, and that's fine, they're a relatively new idea on the net! On AnimePaper tags are designed to describe a wallpaper or scan, for example, if a scan has a character with cat ears then tagging it with Nekomimi would be appropriate, or maybe if the scan is from the megami magazine, tagging it with Megami would be good too!
Tagging scans with the series name is pretty useless as the images already have a searchable category, hopefully after a few weeks we will start to have a comprehensive tag gallery, so searching for an image will get even easier!
Some good ideas for tags:
-Magazine Origin
-Item of clothing
-Male/Female
-Vector
-Wallpaper type/season (Christmas/festival)

That's one of the problems with tags. Although tags is a great idea and makes a certain type of wallpaper easier to find, it is also very vulnerable to be exploited. Ever since Youtube got tags, some people just wrote as many tags as they could think of to get more exposure. Is AP going to create rules against abusing tags?
I don't believe that the labels are used to change or to direct to another image. In AP the scans doesn't generally contain publicity, but in Youtube, many videos have publicity or message.

Hey, I think main colors and objets are good ideas for tags too. In fact, I've just tagged my walls like that (well, some of them). Studios, productors and even feelings on walls and scans (i.e. "cute", "evil", "darkness" and so on) are good ideas too.

I tagged 2 of my walls with "pantsu". I guess I got the memo.
I happen to thing that this was a brilliant idea! It works well if those that tag use correct descriptions. I have gone through most of my wallpapers and tagged them as I saw fit. If people tag correctly we can find exactly what we want when we go searching for stuff.

Dammit I tagged a few images with the series name. I feel like an idiot. I'll re-tag them with usefull info right now.
Maybe AP is in need of a mod to take care of the "retarded" taggings, redundant comments, and the SZ section to delete the accepted walls, because it might be wasting space/bandwith? to keep the same accepted walls in the SZ section.
although, if that results in backcount of papers, then it might not be such a good idea.
I've seen the repeating comments alot too, I don't think it's done intentionally, maybe a bug, a refresh button, or something.

It looks like the tags are case sensitive. That's not a good thing, I'd say ...

bah, just did the same for one just now. Was kinda going danbooru mode on it >_>. The uselessness of tagging something with the series name when it's already under a category slipped my mind XD.
I'll see if I can add some useful tags...
Yeah Danbooru influenced me too. Actually I had it in mind that the categories already existed but I thought the tags were quickest way to get to them. What I hadn't noticed is that each category displays it's own tags on page top making tagging it 'SpeedGrapher' meaningless. Dumb.

So technically speaking now we can tag a wallpaper based on it's aspect ratio? For instance Widescreen for widescreen, Fullscreen for the normal aspect ratio?

On a lot (and i can quote here) of Blogs, the TAGS are used commonly for months, if not for years... the goal is to categorize without seperating...
they are keywords and categories at the same time... this is very efficient, and keep us from having to search too much...
hope the Tags Cloud here grow and be more useful than the search box.. :)
