Often listen to MP3 or CD player?
I am very like to listen to the music,so I often listen to MP3 and CD.
But scientists said that is really bad for the sense of hearing, they also give how long is the best time for person using earphone to listen to music.Only no more than 40 minutes everyday.
However, although I know that fact,I often exceed the limit, because I really like to kill time by music.^^
What about you?

Heck, I listen for up to two hours, sometimes even 3. XD I think that as long as the volume isn't too loud, it's alright. I even read somewhere that listening to your fave music for an hour helps ease back pains. It seems to be working for me. ^^
In the mean time,...ever since my uncle has bought me an MP3 Player for my birthday, I listen to it on the way to the Language Institute, on the Skytrain regularly. Even in the gym, when I ride the Bike machine I listen to MP3, so that the time passes faster... I usually ride 45 Minutes, but today I rode an hour and lost 1.5 Kilogrammes.
I'm not too sure about it.. but if i'm not mistaken, i read an article before.. it's not about the usage of the mp3 or the cd player.. they say it is not healthy because of the usage of headphones.. using the headphones for mroe than 40 minutes.. or for over a long period of time.. could cause about 300 or more bacteria colonies to form up in your ears.. that is what i had read.. however, i'm too hooked up to songs to not be able to stop using a headphone after 40 minutes.. i use headphones for hours.. i think i may be damaging my ears..
That kinda goes along with the saying "Too much of good thing is never usually a good thing," I often catch myself amping up my own ipod shuffle and have to stop myself from doing so. I don't want to end up paying for it later XD
I often listen mp3s with headphones or speakerphones. It's impossible to listen music less than 40 minutes with headphones =) However I know fact of damage, but I can't do anything with this...
You should be fine unless you listen too loud, past a certain limit. The intensity and power of the sound (just say the loudness/volume of your music) is measured in decibel (dB). If your normal listening volume for music is at 90 dB or past that then your going to look at damaging your hearing. But anything under 80 dB's is not going to do any harm to your eardrum.
Example of how loud 90 dB would be think of a gas-engine powered chain saw. 100 dB would be like a jackhammer, 120-130 dB would be like a live rock concert. 70 dB would be like a busy street. So you get the idea.
I myself am a music/audio person and do listen for hours end to music everyday but under a certain volume level. Say around 70-80 dB.
Listening with either headphones or loudspeakers (no, no don't be fooled by the term, Loudspeaker think of it as your home audio speakers, computer speakers, the speakers in your TV, etc... Those are what we call loudspeakers.) can do the same damage to your hearing if you go past 90 dB with the volume.

I'm aware of it but I only listen to it when there's a need to so I suppose it's alright for me then. X) and I can be quite a muddlehead as I forgot to switch the music on when I'm using my laptop at times. Like now. =x. I suppose as long as it's not too loud it'll be alright but not for long of course (:

Sheesh. Breathing is bad for your lungs. Chewing is bad for your teeth. Running is bad for your joints. Listening to music is bad for your ears. Ain't gonna stop me. I agree that listening to your iPod while you sleep or something is crazy, but I don't think listening to music to entertain yourself is bad. It's when you wear the iPod or whatever as background noise that you run into trouble.

Pft, only if you are blasting that "damn rap music" in your ears all day, using earphones will not hurt your ear like that...
concerts however, will damage your ears unless you wear ear protection (hence you cant hear carp after a concert lol)

I listen about 3 hours a day, for about a year now, and no problems.. So well I don't know, but I think it has to do with the volume you put the music on. Not the rest.
All day long sometimes xD
Well... No problems right now, and thats what really matters.

Well I love my iPod Shuffle and I always have it with me. I listen to music during breaks at school or when I'm going shopping since it just makes the time go faster.
I do know that is bad for my hearing but I noticed that the volume I'm used to is very low. When people borrow my player they always turn the volume up (making the sound at least 5 times bigger). As much as I know my hearing is perfect and not damaged.

...I listen to music a lot... but I ussually connect it to my computer and use the speakers... I'm listening to music now... but if I go on a trip then I listen to a few songs and then give it a rest... longer than 40 mins though...but my hearing is still perfect... who knows what'll happen later until then I'll keep listening...
I listen to music (via headphones only, not including stereo system) probably a few hours daily. I listen to music on my way to work, on my way back, to and from school, AT school (when I'm working or during our break and lunch periods). Basically, whenever I have free time, I listen to music.
I have heard that it's bad for you, and I'll probably suffer in the future. But, I really don't care very much. If we all worried about the future, then we'd have no life now. I'd rather enjoy my life while I'm young.
