I'm not so sure. Maybe was sailor moon, or dragonball, or astro boy.
In my opinion, anime is the Japanese animation.
40 years ago, people in Japan started to abbreviate animation and use the term “anime”(アンメ) .Nowadays, many people in the world call the Japanese animation anime.
I just did a oral presentation about the anime a few days ago.

The first anime, the one which made me an otaku is Full Metal Alchemist.
This is the first anime which have interrest me.
After this one, I have start to download others animes ... and my second anime was 'Black Lagoon', and my third 'Air' ...
Now, I'm downloading all the animes I can, and I watch anime everyday ^^

Doraemon was my first anime. I watched it when I was just a little kid, maybe when I was 5 years old.
But I even haven't understood what's the term 'anime' means back then.

ACtually that was so many years ago, that I can't even recall. I remember watching Pokemon and Sailor Moon on German programs. And there was also an anime with some girls who were playing volleyball (can't recall the name though).
For some years I didn't watch any and now I'm back on track trying to get to hold on to the new anime series that are coming out ;)

Hahah... just like you said... alot of people here started with dragon ball then went up the ladder to more interesting things...
me, i started watching dragon ball too... didnt know that it was an anime but it was better than watching tom and jerry where there was no lasting plot... XD (for comic relief, tom and jerry was good XD)

I can't really remeber what anime i watched first when i was younger XD, i think it was pokemon, i also liked the sailormoon and also cardcaptors

Ah, same here. He was literally EVERYWHERE in Asia. My cousins had all the books and pencil cases etc etc... so i guess i was sucked into it as well.

Ranma1/2! that was my first anime and i also didn know anything about anime back then. but it was interesting and i'd always stay up till early in the morning just to catch it. ah, the good ole days...=)
I had seen animes like Saint Seiya but without much interest, all that battles that have no end and such a poor story. And I watched them because they were on TV and all children were mad about them. :D

It was Dragon Ball for me also hehe, saw it as a little kid and i didnt really knew that was an anime, though of it as another regular cartoon, just like Rurouni Kenshin( wich i still love til this date).
i guess the real 1st anime that caught my eye was Neo Genesis Evangelion, saw some eps of it about 5 years ago on TV and made me go into the Internet and search for more of this japonese "cartoons", specialy since this time it wasnt dubbed, unlike the 1st two i mentioned. ^^

Hmm...My first anime was one of my fathers animetapes, I don't recall the animes name, but the story was about one young ninja in blue clothes and was drawn in same style like Doraemon, this ninja lived in a house with his grandpa(I think) and his friends went in school and the ninja trained with his grandfather and after the school the friends comes by and play with him and then they got in a lot of trouble. And I've watched Doraemon, Saint Seiya and Dragon Ball and some more I don't remember(this was between the age 0-6). But the first real anime I've watched must be Evangelion, but under that time I was a noob and only wanted fighting scenes so I watched Evangelion from 26-1. And from there I've seen at least 20+ animes.
And I haven't finish off my fathers anime collection.

I'm not really remember. But as far as I can remember, the first anime I watched is Sailor Moon... ^__^; I watched it 13 years ago! At that moment, I very very liked that anime series. If I couldn't watched it for some reason, I'd very regretted or cried. Because of that, I became a big fan of Sailor Moon... I think that's my first time I being an anime/manga lover...^^ But I'm not a fan of Sailor Moon anymore. Currently, I'm a big fan of Death Note and watching the anime series so far...
