Insomnia
I hate having insomnia cause I love sleep.
I need a way to either get to sleep or stop sleeping altogether.
Any Idea's?

I've had insomnia for...oh I dunno...15 years now?
There is no real help unless you go get clinical help. After hearing most of the side effects on the medication and stuff though...I'd rather live with taking 2 hours to get to sleep rather than those.
Plainly said, insomnia sucks. You will need sleep though, so you can't try to cut it out of your life. I couldn't last more than 75 hours.
The only way to keep awake is caffine supplements or drinks. Even then, after your body gets used to caffine, you need more and more to stay awake. Eventually, you'll get addicted. Once again, I'd rather live with taking 2 hours to get to sleep. Not to mention you'll probably be like Tweak from South Park.
Just live with it...that's all I can say.

I understand, I don't mind the two hours of sleep. Cause clinical help doesnt sound like fun. I'm still trying to think of ways to keep me self entertained while awake though cause seriously i'm running out of things to do.
I believe i have insomnia too. It's always hard for me to sleep and it usually takes me about 1 or 2 hours to be able to fall asleep. I toss and turn a lot too. I think it's cuz of the stress and worries. Since school's coming up, i always worry about to wear on the first day and stuff like that. I searched in google and found these 12 ways to sleep better, so i hope they will work for me and others that have insomnia.
* Wind down prior to bedtime
* Do not smoke (nicotine is a stimulant) or consume caffeine
* Try warm milk or a light snack before bed (if this doesn’t interfere with another treatment you are using)
* Exercise daily, but not right before bedtime
* Take a warm bath, but not right before bedtime
* Keep a regular bedtime and rising time
* Get in the habit of going to bed when you are sleepy and sleeping where you sleep best
* Reserve your bed for sleeping only
* Don’t have any clocks visible to you
* Reduce the amount of time you allow yourself to sleep until you fall asleep easily (your health care provider can help with this form of “sleep restriction therapy”
* Schedule worry time during the day and put worries out of your head when it is time to sleep; you can write them down on 3×5 cards, and then let go of them
* Get up if you have not fallen asleep in 15 minutes and practice a relaxing activity (e.g. handwork, reading a boring book) until you feel sleepy

Insomnia might not be so bad, I mean, I don't have it at the moment, but I could sure use more time in life.
I do like to sleep though, and I think we all do to an extent. So, don't try to stop sleeping ;) That just is not good for you.

I heard things like thinking of black stuff (as in: a black needle on a black pillow, on a black bed, etc...) helps. Mostly those kind of mind games, like viewing yourself writting numbers on a gigant blackboard and erasing them, going from 100 to 1; or thinking what would you do with 1 million $.
For me what it works best is to take an idea and develop a plot for it in my mind.

There's ways listed here to help rid of the problem.
Oh man I have the same problem as you . I'm not attending school or working right now and I have so much free time and my sleeping schedule is the opposite of everyone.
Why would you want to stop sleeping anyways ?? Ways that I think could make you sleep are :
- Doing alot of physical exercise, activities or a job during the day that will tire you out
- Don't drink coffee or anything with caffeine
- Try listening to some music or watch tv till you fall asleep
that's all i can think of at the moment.

If it becomes much worse, you may want to look into the obvious solution: sedatives. There are plenty of over the counter medicines that'll put you out pretty well. The big drawback behind using something like that is that you may become dependant on them and that can't be healthy. Not sleeping at all is worse though. Clinically speaking, five days without sleep leads to insanity, ten days without sleep and you'll probably be dead. So be careful.
I love sleep. However, I have totally abnormal sleeping hours. Since I turned 13, I have never been able to sleep before 11pm. It's, like, impossible for me. I've pulled a couple all nighters here and there, due to watching anime, reading fanfix/manga, or doing homework/projects. I don't have a major case of insomnia like some people I know, but I just know for a bloody fact that you can probably find me awake around 4 or 5 in the morning in the summertime.
Taken directly from dictionary.com:
in·som·ni·a
n.
Chronic inability to fall asleep or remain asleep for an adequate length of time.
Many people don't even realize they have insomnia, that's what sucks. Truth be told, I'm more of the first part of the description rather than the second. I can sleep just fine when I actually GET to sleep. The only problem is just that: getting to sleep.
I've seriously stayed awake for almost 5 hours more once trying to go to sleep and never managing it. I simply just try to zone out or relax, and that usually works after about 2 hours.
The part that sucks is, even after I force myself to get tired (ie; read a LOT for about 2-3 hours, constantly think about random things to make my mind tired), I lay back down and I'm wide awake again.
You know you have insomnia when you can sleep for 2 hours and stay awake for the next 30.
After 75 hours without sleep, I was dead on my feet. Not to mention I was seeing things. So yea, I can understand this perfectly.
Most people think insomnia is a joke...which it isn't. It plagues a lot of different people all over the world, and even affects lifestyles.
Just plainly said, insomnia sucks.

Not only am I naturally a night person but insomnia is a side effect of my OCD, so it's normal for me to fall asleep around 2:30 or 3:00 every night. I don't really mind it, but sometimes I wish I could just get to sleep sooner. Here's a few things I do to help me relax and fall asleep.
~ Watching TV makes me tired, this is where [adult swim] comes in handy.
~ Listening to relaxing music (i.e. classical not death metal like Opeth) or one of those "meditation" CDs. Hey, they work very well.
~ Lying in bed in general helps wind me down, sometimes I get so comfortable that I fall asleep at 12:30, that's early.
~ Read a good book while lying in bed. Just make sure it's not one of those "I can't put this down!" books, that only makes the situation worse.

I don't (think I) have insomnia, but what about trying to put yourself in a position where you are REALLY, REALLY, tired right before going to bed? Like working out and then showering before you decide to turn in for the night. I don't know if it helps, but I've found that some of my best sleeps have come from me being very tired right before I go to sleep.
Sometimes I had the same problem.....
When I got into insomnia,I often get up and have a glass of water, that may be useful
In fact,I think a good way to get out of trouble is to go to bed early at night,
and get up early in the morning.
If you comply the time in your body, thar's maybe helpful sometimes.^^

If you've had insomnia for a long period or time, or even if you have a serious case of insomnia, it still won't work.
This was my case when I was in high school. I screwed around in 10th grade and ended up having to go to summer school. I was also on the varsity basketball team. Summer practice was a given.
After walking home from classes (a good 40 minute walk), I only had about half an hour to rest before I had to bike to practice, practice for 2-3 hours and then bike back. This was a daily occurance for pretty much the entire summer. Even then, it still took me 1-2 hours to fall asleep.
If you have insomnia and get to that point, I think you can understand when I say this:
There comes a point where you're so tired, you can't do anything. You don't want to do anything. That includes sleep. You're so tired that you actually aren't tired.
Sorry guys, I've had insomnia since I was a kid. I pretty much know all the 'remedies' or things that supposedly help. 99% of them don't work, that's just the way it is.
