Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

Demanding a little attention

Have you ever demanded attention from people and felt that it was rightly deserved? Demanding attention may be selfish but not getting any attention is worse. I'm heading off to college in 3 weeks and I have so much shopping to do and I can't even get a little attention and shopping time with my mom. She told me she would go shopping one day with me and if I don't get everything, whatever. I just wanted to vent because I'm so frustrated right now. When have you ever felt like you deserved someone's attention and what did you do to get it?

Yea, I did. I was with a group of friends sitting at our usual table, and they are always talking and when I started a topic they would always changing and I would be automatically out of the conversation, and I tried to stay quiet for the whole sit. It has been going on for like two months, then i finally broke down, cuz I decided that I was worthless.

That happened to me with my friend! I would try to talk to her, but she would ignore me to talk to other people. It's so frustrating to feel like you deserve attention from people and they don't give it to you!

Yea, and I have to suffer for a month! [I think it was even longer than that]. Oh and did you know what one of my friends say?? She said that she used the "Stay Quiet Technique" doesn't work and people who does that doesn't deserve any attention, cuz they don't know how to get it.

Hm, yes, I feel like that frequently...But I don't feel sorry for myself most of the time, because when people act as if you're not there, it's a good way to hear, um, useful things... *shifty eyes* <_< Erm, yeah.
If I do start feeling sorry for myself, I usually try to find a way to join the conversation...Start with a comment, and if people reply, follow up with your own opinion or something. :)

I understand that you need attention from time to time, but personally, even if I need attention, I don't feel at ease requesting it!Most of my friends for example would talk about themselves with me, and if they don't take the opportunity to ask about me, I won't be telling them that I wanted or needed to talk about something myself...

No problems here. i wouldn't neccesarily say demanding attention is selfish, how you get that attention is what would make it truly selfish or not. everyone needs attention, it helps us with our self-idenity and gives us peace of mind (safety and security issue). i think it would be a good idea to spend time with your mother before you leave.

Which is why its always good to have someone nearby to talk to whenever one is in need of attention. In my case, its myself! Ha! No kidding, its like my brain is properly partitioned to actually make good conversation. Then again, I could just as well be sick in the head from not having anyone else to talk to for lengths at a time.

Personally, I hate people who try to draw attention to themselves.

I'm more of someone who operates in the background and helps others out. That's how I've always been, and that's how I'll stay.

People who try to get any attention they can muster kind of irritates me. Just because the attention isn't on you or you can't follow a conversation doesn't mean that you have to be some kind of hero and try to make things better.

What's the purpose of seeking attention? I don't understand, it gives no benefits rather it just disadvantages you and everyone else. You demand attention, but the question is why?

Because human is a social animal.

I find rather amusing those attention whores known as mythomaniacs, they're a lot of funspecially when you know they are lying and you keep asking so they lie more and more.

Those are really disgusting, I've got a hypothesis: we all need attention, and some of us get it at home from our family, those starved of attention will look for it anywhere else. As a result we have the "class clown", couples that are stapled to each other or just people who'll do whatever they can to make people realise their existnce. Whenever I see some of those I wonder what sort of childhood and relationship with their parents they had.

This is just a hypothesis, at times like this I wish I had studied psycology.

The class clowns are the type of people who usually have nothing better to do than to cause mischief.

I'm a bit of one myself, just because most of the classes I had to take were extremely boring. It was more to liven up the class than anything. Most of the times, the teachers didn't seem too annoyed because they knew I was doing them a favor.

College is different though. Everyone gets an equal chance to voice what they want. While I'm still a smartoff, there are people way worse than me.

The people who crave attention are the people who deface property, destroy belongings or basically do anything destructive to get attention, even if it isn't the right kind. If you can, imagine Naruto at the very beginning of the series, and you have this kind of personality.

People also try various methods of drawing attention to themselves. People who talk loud all the time are a perfect example of this. I've met numerous people like this, and when they can't get attention that way, they start something else.

Picking on people, starting fights, harrassing anyone they can think of. Any of these fit.

Things just happen that way.

Of course, it's unfair to immediately stereotype people wanting attention as those kinds of mischief makers. I mean, I know of a few attention whores at school, and they demand attention either by talking a lot, or always being the ones to start a conversation. They don't necessarily talk loud, or interrupt others... in fact, they have their share of listening too, but you can usually tell off the bat by the way they frequently talk, that they want attention.

You know what they say though -- it's better to give attention than to receive it, much as it takes courage to stand up and talk, it also takes courage to sit down and listen. I personally am the listening kind of guy. I rarely demand attention, but only on occasion -- and only if I got something funny or productive to say or contribute. Even then, listeners never really reap any rewards, but for me, it's better that way. Less mouth movement = less strain on the muscles = less tiring. :P
