Money or world peace??
Hi everyone~ 
if you had to choose between...lets say... a million buck right there right now right in front of you and world peace which one would you choose? and why??
this was a question i asked my phych proffessor (it was part of a little game with the entire class) we had to answer a 'which would you choose?' question from the proffesor and we could ask a 'which would you choose' question of our own. i heard everything from which foods to who would you choose, it got interesting towards the middle and end when the questions were a bit more thought out and more complicated and i thought it would be cool to try it with the members of AP only that there is one question (above) and i would really like to know which would you choose. if you are all wondering what the proffesor's answer was he said he'd have world peace instead of the money

I would take the money right away. World peace is only a hopeless dream, just an ideal. It will never be achieved, even in a hypothetical context, so there's no point. It would be even more real if I had 1 million bucks, and supported local charities near me, than having this so called world peace. Eventually, it'll break, and people will start fighting again. Now, I'm no "emo" kid, but I stick to reality :p
I'm afraid I'm one of those selfish type of people. Honestly I don't really care what goes on in the world. Of course I hear it on the news all the time, "Riots in Pakistan", "War in Iraq", etc but really... I couldn't care less. *scratches head* yup. Now with that money, it could solve a lot of my problems. I can help pay the rest of the mortgage for my parents, I could invest it houses, I could pay off my university fees. It'd make my life THAT much easier and quite frankly if there was world peace, it would not change any of my issues. None at all.
BUT obviously the circumstances change if perhaps war started happening in Australia where I live. Then definitely I'd want world peace. so they can stop fighting and so I can continue on with my life. There is not a completely direct answer to that, there are always obstacles and barriers and depending on the current situation. However if you asked me without considering anything, then I'm definitely taking the money.

I would choose world peace. Normally, it's not possible, but if there was someone, who could do that - i'd go for it right away. I don't care that much about money - you could earn a million bucks if that's what you desire whith hard work, studying and hard work. But world peace isn't just for you or your closest people - it's for every man, woman and child in the world. By having a million bucks you'll be just another millionare, but by having peace, i guess you'll have no worries - no more news about wars, weapons, no more footage of soldiers, no more scaterred bodies, no more blood, no more fear...
I definitely agree with DZeroX. I would take the money, unless of course you could give me a satisfying definition of world peace. Everyone becoming slaves could be interpreted as world peace or we could blow up the planet. No one would be fighting.

Um...I would choose world peace. Turgidly saying, although I get millions of money, if wars are breaking out all over the world, how can I live securely. I have to worry about whether I still be alive here tomorrow. and I believe that most of the wars in human's history are causing by our desire for resources (oil, dominion and also money). What can I do with millions of dollars? contributing to society or help others? or spending on personal entertainment? Actually, you cannot do much helping the world with money.
The money of course.. If you choose world peace, I'm sure that soon the world will back again in war! Believe it.. World peace is something that nearly impossible to have! Then, if you choose money, you can help those who need help! Or with those MOUNTAINOUS MONEY, you could buy what you call world peace!

If was peace that would last forever I would choose world peace, mostly for the same reasons as tufto. If someone could do it I would certainly want them to do it, and the benefits of having a million dollars just doesn't compare in my own personal oppinion.
However if it was peace in the sense of quelling all current strifes I would take the money, because man is greedy by nature and as soon as the strifes end new ones (and probably worst ones at that) would begin to develop.

I really want to say World Peace.. but if it's presented to me as in right now. Money.
Since money could last me a relatively long time (especially if it's a lot!), but World Peace, well.. there might be world peace that day, but tomorrow, minor disagreements would arise AGAIN that would lead to not-World-Peace :D.

I'd go with taking the money..Though I think this question has a deeper meaning to which your answer could tell more about yourself.

I would gladly say World Peace, but it's not possible. We are all human and being human, we have bad qualities that would make any kind of peace impossible let alone peace for the whole world. We're all pretty selfish and there would be many conflicts. It's not a simple decision as that. maybe if we turned into robots or something then it'd be possible lol. So i would rather have the money, cause that's as realistic as anything.

If I choose money, then the world will be in chaos, and the money won't have anymore value. Still, one million dollar would be a great asset in preparing for the war... If I choose world peace, then I may never have the chance to have a million dollars. Maybe I'll work my ass off everyday and will never have that sum in less than 20 years. So, in its tiny little reasoning, my world will be in chaos regretting how I passed the money then.
Either way, it's no win-win solution. But if I really have to choose, I'll take the money; because sooner or later the world will be in chaos anyway. If I know when it will come, I will at least have some time to prepare. Plus a million dollar in hand.

If world peace could be obtained so easily, everyone would go for that, but I don't think it's coming any time soon. Money would have to be my choice.
