Well here is my second creation.
I honestly think Megaman Zero is the best looking Megaman character of them all. I first extracted this image from the scan, did some color modification, a bit of contrast play and made sure that the colors overall were vibrant.
I then decided to make the background simple and frame-looking so that the image would stick out and be the center of attention instead of making the background too over-bearing. So I matched the colour scheme of the background with the colors of the image so it works together instead of clashing with other colors.
Then I decided that since Zero was shooting something, I should elborate on that concept and make him actually shoot something. Hence I made the laser shot thing. It was actually not that hard. Just played around with the shapes and pen tool, just so it lined up nicely and match the perspective of the gun. Then the color scheme was simple, just make it vibrant and bright so it matched the overall look of Zero. Lastly I made the shooting effect by incorporating simple shapes like circles and ovals, and simple streaks of light...just so it looked realistic.
Hope you like.
