*COPIED FROM MINITOKYO BECAUSE ... I can*
I know it has been forever since I've made a wallpaper, but I have many good reasons to back that up! Well, no, I don't. I've been lazy as crap, enjoying my summer instead of spending it in front of the computer. Eh, if I haven't been in front of the computer too much, then I guess I'm not being too lazy, but whatever! Enough talk about me, on to the wallpaper.
This is a Nodame Cantabile wallpaper, the original scan is right here: Nodame Cantabile CD Selection Book 2 - Page 28 by Tama-Neko - I immediately wanted to work with this when I saw it, such a peaceful mood it gives, and I was also feeling a bit inspired at first sight.
I vectored the outlines, and half-colored the bubbles and only a small part of the character (her cheeks for the blush.) I didn't want to completely color the character because, well, it just wouldn't look good. I then messed around with the placement of the bubbles, I had to move them around, seeing as if I didn't, the wallpaper would be way too one sided. Next came text. After that, I tried different colors and then threw the crumpled up paper on behind it. In all it was a few days of on and off work. WAH LAH. The title of the wallpaper is inspired by Modest Mouse' song "Ocean Breathes Salty."
You may or may not find more resolutions over at Antique soon. I'm so bipolar with updating that website, it's ridiculous. I broke the comment box, too, so go meee!
You can find the Pour Femme version over at Minitokyo
