I really like the calligraphy stroke and wanted to use it for something. Hmmm... well it would work best with something that had to do with ink or writing, and then I was watching Death Note and thought, "Ahh, here is where it would fit in." So I vectored a screen shot from the very first episode during a great scene where Light is giving the Death Note a good workout.
This went through many beta stages even before being published in SZ. I had a completely different original idea and later trashed it, then came up with this idea that included the text.
And as for the name, The Used is my absolute favorite band. So don't be surprised if you find more walls in the future with the same name as that of a song by The Used.
