Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
A more 3D take on a 2D genre! Take a look at how `Gatoi transformed a screen shot from the popular Samurai Champloo into an almost touchable likeness of the main character, Mugen. With a minimum of details to depict Mugen's deep blue slumber, the background is still very much alive.
This an experimental wallpaper. Specially if it is about Champloo subjects. But I like it so very much!...
...I hope you so.
I made this with a screencap as reference. Here is the image: SCREENCAP.
Enjoy it!!
I´m really impressive with your work, this character is interisting and cool and you can to get a beautiful image, each detail clean, like the hair, the mouth, the breath in the bubble, the colour of the background. Great job.
Its a pretty cool concept and great attempt, but honestly I feel it needs a few more subtle things added to it. I understand its simplicity, but the simplicity to me is making its '3d' nature look VERY odd. Otherwise, great job dude I like the composition and vibrant colors its awesome seeing people manipulating scans so much, and by hand.
This is so incredible.
Firstly, of course, it's amazing how have you changed the screenshot into this awesome wall. It looks so real, the shadows of his face are really admirable and though it's very simple, I feel the depth and it doesn't evoke emptiness or something, it's nicely balanced.
Plus, the fish is just cute, perfectly joined with the background and concept.
What can I say? This wall is something you don't see often and it deserves to be featured.
Congratulations.
The background may be only just a plain blue background but the texture was really done well to bring out the 3D feel of Mugen. The fish swimming towards Mugen looks really real, reminds me of the 3D screensavers!
There is a whole lot of difference comparing the stock image of Mugen from the screenshot and what you have done in this wall.
