Happy New Year to abul and moonescape! Two more of my best friends here :) May 2008 hold wonderful things for you guys~ Abul-kun, I doubt you're a fan of InuYasha but I know you prefer walls to vectors now so I wanted to give you a wall. And Moon-chan, as far as I know, you are an InuYasha fan, right? Anyways I haven't made anything from this series yet so here it is. I hope you like it :)
Exactly one year ago, I made a wallpaper with the same image. You can see it here. It's pretty bad, because I was still a beginner then. A year later, I can compare how I chose to wall this scan differently.
-Vector-
Was pretty straightforward; went well. My outlines are too thin >_< In the end I didn't have time to vector the designs on their kimonos so I used some patterns (I lurv patterns). Not much else to say about the vector I guess.
Original scan was kinda bad quality and had problems so it was a good image to vector.

Heh, it's horrible. I know. Actually, I like the front part of the wall. But the back? Horrible. The fireworks look bad. The lake looks bad. The fireworks reflection looks bad. But meh, when you suck you suck.
I tried many different methods for the fireworks. I even vectored my own fireworks from scratch, but they looked too cartoony. In the end I settled for brushes even though I really didn't want to use brushes >.< I downloaded like, 50 different firework brushes until I found these ones. Nice fireworks are hard to find.
The water I painted from scratch. It doesn't look much like water, but...you can get the idea.
Anyways I know there's a lot of ways that this wall could improve. But I don't care now >.< I worked on it all night, now it's 1:15 PM and I give up. It is what it is. Better luck next time, ne?
Despite the horrible-ness I hope Abul and Moonescape still like their end-of-year gift :)
