As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. I was told to write about the fun so here it goes:
It all began 2000 years ago... (yes i'm that old) When the moon did something and something happened (yes this has a point) and then entered the so called "fun" which led to this wall (see? i said it was going somewhere >:D emoticon

)
And i managed to mention the fun! yay

Anyway.. I vectored this scan, i thought painting would be easier but a certain someone said she liked my vexeling and so i did (i'm really obedient :3)

Lol, for some reason, when I downloaded the wallpaper, all I got was this emoticon: (^3^) emoticon

I was like, nooo I wanna see it up close! Well I can download it normally now after I cleared my cache XD Anywho, the vexel is wonderfully done! It's too bad that the original was so tilted; I feel that she's too suddenly cut at the bottom.

The background is also nicely done! The colors of the sky go nicely with the vexel. However, I think the clouds look too bumpy to be thin clouds. Or if they're cumulus clouds, I think the left side should be more filled in with white. Also, the trees look rather flat to me. I think there should be tiny globs of light on the leaves, even when they're out of focus.

Great job overall!

Ok i was tired before when i commented on MT so i'll give this a proper comment now.
like i said on MT, the sky is a bit too purple on the ends, it would be better to add another darker blue on top, esp since the foreground is so dark. the bg looks nice, but i think the shadows of the trees should be a bit more blue. and i'm not quite sure about the blur on the birds ._.

i really do like the vector, it fits nishimata's style, though i wish that the parts where the eyelashes are masked away were more saturated :3

I agree with vita's comment, but I also wanted to add that I think you could have possibly tilted the background to match the tilt of your character. It looks a little strange that she's leaning so far one way, and the background is perfectly straight. Overall, it's gorgeous, though. That vector is stunning! :D

Totally love the vector! The eyes and hair look beautiful, especially the hair. All the shading and coloring is amazing. Love the dress she's wearing too. :3

Only thing that bothers me is the background. The sky is pretty, but the trees don't look right with it. The flowers look lovely too, but again, they don't really fit in imo.

The vector is definitely gorgeous though, so great job on that!
