Here comes my second wallpaper.
It is about Oban Star Racers, a anime airing on french television, but animated by Hal Film Maker.
I sincerly thank trismugistus for finally approving this category :)
Well, now, about the wall :
I took several screen caps from the anime, that I put together and then vectored. Originally, the girl was holding her shoes. I found it not good enough and I redrew her right hand. Nothing really difficult.
I longly hesitated on how to make the grass in foreground.
First test : Photoshop brush. I did make somme odd things with this one. The grass bits were too large and too blurry.
Second test : Illustrator symbols. I only used two shapes, and the grass that resulted was not pretty enough.
Third test : Back to photoshop brush, I drew a too flat carpet of grass. Some people suggested to draw something behind.
Last test : Back to symbols, with this time 5 different shapes, a hill in background and three layers of grass. I found it quite good.
I had to add something in the sky... OK : birds! What else ? (not Nespresso :p)
I vectored different pictures of birds, and added them into the sky as symbols.
All this was done with Illustrator. Now, the photoshop part :
Added shadows to the birds' bodies. Added different effects to the different layers of grass. Added some gaussian blur in a multiply layer to blend the character with the background. And added a sun. The sun was first made with the lens flare effect from photoshop, but I did worked a bit on it and it finished with this hand made white flashy light.
Right during my exams, this wall took 2 weeks of my life :D Count 1~2 hours a day working on it.
Something I did not want to make : clouds. I did not really decided on what I wanted to do for them : reallistic or more toon-like clouds. So I ended up using a very simple sky. I also hesitated on different colours for the sun and for the gradient of the sky.
A last thing : for the first time in my life, I realized that two screens never have the same Contrast/Brightness settings xD On my computer, the wall appears quite fine, but on my laptop it looks a bit lightened. I don't know if it's good or not.
Well, that's all for today :o
Again, thanks to trismugistus, but also to people in SZ and from the French-speaking people group :D
