So I've been working on this particular trace for more than a year.
No, not constantly, I've been taking eight-month breaks in between activity. Got a rough idea of how active I've been lately? Good. I managed to finish the lineart a few weeks (months?) ago, and finally got around to coloring it. The source is Ken Akamatsu's Mahou Sensei Negima, chapter 136, page 5. Being the huge fan of both Haruna and Chisame that I am, I decided I had to trace the panel.
It turned out well. The idea of the wallpaper came as I was coloring the trace: Haruna was finished; Chisame was not. The full-color Haruna so full of action seemed to be separate from the rest of the page, and I decided I would have to use this for the wallpaper version. The result is the above wallpaper. I liked the "sticker/popup" effect that I've seen here and there, and decided to implement it. It served its purpose well: it separates both Haruna and Chisame from the dreary black, and puts them in a dimension of their own.
Enjoy.
Edit: Cleaned up the black behind Chisame's foot, made it look like she was inbetween two layers of black rather than emerging from one. It was annoying me.
