Fujiwara no Mokou, of all the Touhou characters it had to be her. I still can't believe I actually made a wall featuring her.
It all began when I was browsing through my pile of un-finished projects when I found a pheonix-ish emblem I had put together in AI god knows how long ago. I found myself poking away at it once more and before I knew it I was in PS with some lineart. I knew I had wanted to create something for some time now, something non-painted; something dark. When I thought about it, Mokou wasn't that bad a character if I was going for that setting. Her story is one of revenge and suffering after all.
After that it all fell together rather nicely one piece at a time. The cold metal background and the smoldering metal phoenix emblem fitted fairly well symbolically, as did the dabs of blood. I wanted to include Mokou herself somehow in the wall as well but I didn't really feel like adding more content (not that I knew how she would have fit in there anyways), so a silhouette had to do.
All in all this was a fairly speedy project, all in all prolly about six hours or slightly less; most of which I spent getting that worn metal-ish look, conjuring smoke and finding a usable image of her. At first I never intended to upload this wallpaper since I didn't really think it was AP-material... but then again I haven't posted anything in a while, and if there's one person out there that could potentially like it... then that's as good as any reason I figure.
