Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

I was watching Samurai Champloo on Cartoon Network tonight, and I became inspired to make a wallpaper of Fuu. If you guys watch Samurai Champloo, you might notice that this vector image of Fuu was modeled after a particular scene from the end credits. Additionally, I named this wallpaper “Searching” due to the way she continuously searches for “the samurai who smells like sunflowers”. Yeah, and I added some flowers in the background to go along with the general theme. =)

Because my Photoshop skills are really rusty, this background took me a good four hours to render and vector. Anyhow, I hope you guys enjoy this wallpaper. Please feel free to leave me some constructive criticism. Thanks, and once again, enjoy!~

It's hot, sexy and original. Wich is the basic requirements for a wall to be added to fave..

Little critism.. Try shading her chin a bit also maybe you've could of detailed a bit with an ear or eventually an eye if it fits on.

Other then that it's neat, the concepts great and it's a fave

It's pretty good. It's kinda original. I like the character standing facing off in a direction which gives the wallpaper a cool look. It's a nice wallpaper.

Ooh, very nice vector! I think that the cluster of flowers looks out of place, but that's my personal opinion ><;; Perhaps an overlay of kimono patterns would make it even better than it already is. (Try Tama-Neko's http://patterns.ming-ling.net ). I think her ear is hidden by her hair, but maybe a little more outline of it would not make it appear as if she is earless.. Otherwise, I think the combination of colours and subtle textures captures the mood very well. From this piece, it doesn't look that you are rusty at all!

Well done I realy love the simple vectoring used in this wall. You have obviously put allot of thought into this wall and i believe that it has payed off. You have profuced a beautyfull wall that is simply + fav in my oppinion anyway... but what do i know.


P.S. Samurai Champloo rocks.

Nice work, but like dhias already said, I think that the flowers look a little bit out of it, maybe it would be better if you put them place them behind Fuu.
And where is her ear? XD
Nice concept though, I like it.

Nice simple scan (kinda like big scans ^.^) but the chalk-like effects put it all nicely. However, it seems the chalky texture is kinda heavy around her hair. Plus the flowers around her back is a tad excessive. I feel it would be better to either shift it together with the fonts lower, away from her collar area or make it smaller. Plus the blood spatter effect on the bottom left is kinda good, maybe adding a few more spallters around the background would make it better. Besides all that, it is indeed a nicely done wallie, a fav for me ^.^

I really like the background of this wall and I love the little blood splatter on the bottom right corner. But the flowers do look like there are sprouting from the back of her neck? Is that intentional? Like the one place she cant see the flowers?

A very cool wallpaper, I like how abstract and different it is. Great use of color and the minimalist effect of the grunge brushes; the texture helps bring everything together (though you might have wanted a slight stronger texture to help tie everything together just a bit better). Overall, a really great job!

I like this wall alot. I'm such a huge fan of Samurai Champloo and I been finding that there isn't many Samurai Champloo walls out there...so I'm happy more people are making Samurai Champloo walls.

Back to your wall. Overall it has a great look. The sunset colour and the image of Fuu really works together well. However the one thing that could of been improved upon is the font and the flower effect. Don't get me wrong I do like the flower effect but it would look better if you actually used images of flowers instead of the pattern provided by photoshop (like stock images of real sunflowers). Now the font, well its a nice, but it should of faded in with the background and you should of made it a bit more grungier.

Overall great job :)

Everything looks pretty good! But the text seems a little out of it. :\ Maybe you should apply some kind of elegant effects on it? I dunno... >>; Or is it the flowers? :\ But good job nonetheless.

Overall it's lovely, but that blood kinda jumps out.

WOW. VERY nice. One thing is the blood feels out of place for me. I like the flowers better, but maybe there's too much on that side. Maybe put some of those were the blood is?? It's just a thought. :P hehehe... Overall...I LOVE it! I absolutely love the colors on it. Great job! ^^

Good vectoring skills but I may have to agree that that chalky effects are a bit heavy at some parts. And some stronger texture could help. Still the colors are well used and the flowers are nice as well. Good job!

Beautiful simplistic wallpaper. The flowers really add something to it. Only critism: the blood splatter on the left. Looks a bit out of place as it's the only one. Perhaps you could add more or just take that one out.

Wow wow wow. what a great concept, kudos to you for thinking of something so great, and pulling it of so stylishly!~

like others have mentioned before, the lack of detail of fuu's left ear is rather vexing, although i haven't seen the original image so i can't really critique this portion (for all i know the scan has no detail either). the blood splatter on the left is a little bit too 2D to my liking, i can't think of a way to improve on it though (sorry!).

contrary to what others have mentioned, i would love a heavier, thicker background and texture. currently, it's a chalk-ish effect, but something with more volume and weight would maybe suit the dark, bold vector style that you used? err... i can't really put it into words well enough...

overall, it's great. little adjustments here and there would make it wonderful. :)
