Ringo from Air Gear!
My main idea was to convey a beautiful/sexy but hectic/chaotic feel. That's why I included the skull and roses, representing Ringo's Thorn Road and her conflicting nature (Air Gear fans will know what I'm talking about).
As much as I love Air Gear art, it was such a daunting task to recreate the lines of Ringo and the skull & roses. With the amount of deatil he puts in the manga, it always requires so much time if you want to repilicate its "Oh!Great-ness" in wallpaper form.

After that, I coloured in Ringo in colours I think looked good and then I went about as how the wallpaper was actually going to look like.
I first tried using some flowery/vine brushes for the background but it became way too floral too fast, losing that funky/hip style that is part of Air Gear.
So in the end I went for some urban brushes for the background to emphasise the whole teenager/street/skater/ aspect of the manga. I was also going for a very messy, spontaneous and splattered paint (or even blood) look, along with a degrading/faded graffiti style adding to the chaotic impression.
I know she may be looking really sweet/hot/cute and the text might feel out of place, but in context Ringo's pose is actually right in the middle of her kicking some serious ass! Its shows while she can be all cute and sweet she is not someone to take lightly. Thats what I love about Air Gear it doesnt really matter what the characters are doing...they always look too cool or hot.
Edit: I'll also add on top here what i mentioned in a post below - the skull and text is part of one side of the duality of this wallpaper. The skull & roses represent the chaotic/dark/secret side to Ringo, which contrasts her sweet smiling face yet also represents her state of mind at the same time.
Its also in standard and wide screen resolutions
Hardest part: Recreating the line work for Ringo and the skull and roses...aarrgh
Easiest part: umm...choosing the font ^^

Looking at it, for me, I feel it really captures the spirit and determination of Ringo, and yet, unlike a lot of AG stuff, doesn't feel overdone. It's got just the right tone to it, and I'm definitely keeping this in mind for future use.

" Never give in!"
