Dragons, dragons, dragons...There really is something magic about them:))
Anyway, I wanted to use the beautiful and very well known X 1999 scan with the dragon duo and the princess, however since the scan has already been wonderfully used and it would be hard to make it in a different way, (I wanted to keep the old look, of course) I combined it with another scan of the princess. Both the scans you can see here:
The dragons
The princess
I extracted the dragons and put them behind the princess, created the background and re-painted most of the two scans. However, besides a slight usage for the princess face there's no vectoring!
Before putting patterns, scratches and all the "old" stuff there was also lineart used for both the princess and the dragons. The lineart solved my biggest problem with the wall, which surprisingly appeared to be blending. I usually don't have any troubles with blending, but in this case, I still couldn't find a way how to really put the dragons and the princess together and blend them to the background. I would say lineart did the miracle, but judge for yourself:))
Anyway, hope you like this one and enjoy!
Time: about seven or eight hours
Layers spent: about 150
Background: watching CSI and listening to Portishead
