My 2nd wallpaper and 2nd vector
( original scan here on AP). I actually chose to work with the text version because I prefer to work from an original rather than a someone's re-touch (I can do that myself anyway).Himawari's vector totaled 35 layers (again with merges), which is actually a little more than I expected given xxxHOLiC's "flat" style. I took quite a few liberties this time because I couldn't tell if the line breaks were intentional or not. I'm most happy about the butterfly trinket on her waist (unfortunately you can't see the whole thing in the wall) and annoyed about the crazy hair
. Ironically, all those lines on the scarf (+ more on the trinket) went by super-fast.Everything from scratch, shapes and such done in Illustrator with a little more compositing done in Photoshop. As usual, I tried to keep it fairly simple as I cannot use busy walls myself since they become overly distracting (plus, the character is my primary concern
). I'm very pleased with the overall warmth of the colors and in particular to how the clouds turned out
. Type (gotta kern the crap out of Japanese characters) kept to a minimum but a tad larger than my first wall.Initial V1 time ~21 hours over two days with a good third wasted because I had no idea on the background
.---
V2 EDITS: non-WS versions, removed cropped head (was creating a visual divide IMO) and tucked a little closer to the right, slight text shrink, some vector clean-up.
V3 EDITS: should be predominantly invisible edits (done at 200-400% @ original scan size), but I updated the walls just in case.
