While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Hey guys = ), it may not look like much but this one is 100% digitally painted. So everything you see was painted, no scans involved hehe. I like how it turned out, and absolutely love this scene from "Speed of 5 Centimeters Per second" created by Makato Shinkai a true genius of anime art. This is also a promotion type deal for my group Shinkai Brillance Who is the creator of the movie series. If you love Makato Shinkai's work be sure to come visit!

EDIT:I took away the grass, added a few subtle details troughout the whole piece and made the characters spaller =D. ALSO I added a 1600x1200 resolution available too!XD

Hi there...
i like the colors that you have used on this background!... it looks beautifull..
I also think that you have done an awesome job painthing that background.. you have definitly a good hand for this kind of stuff.. i wish i had a tablet so that i could try to do this kind of stuff cause i love to draw and paint real pictures...
it's a pity that you haven't made it on other resolutions :(

Wow! it's really amazing, you do have some off points, but to be 100% painted, and with a damn mouse, at that! it's amazing! I can't wait to see what you can do with your tablet! I absolutely love mine.

The colours and sky in the background are very lovely. I adore the cool, light colour scheme, but the silhouettes on the moutain ruin it for me. They look very fake with a beveled PS filter.

For your second digital painting, this is very good! I just suggest making a version without the people and it will look amazing. :)

First I have to say that AnimePaper has too little Makoto Shinkai fans... c'mon guys... his work is like.. holy! So it's great that you have made this wall and even better that you have digital painted it all by yoursel!

Ok I've compared the editted wall with your original and I must say that there are things that are better now, and things that are less.
First of all the concept is very good and the outcome is gorgeous! It's really Makoto Shinkai-isch and I hope that you wanted it to look like this.
The smaller characters are a improvement, because now you get more and overwhelming feeling. You-just-realize-how-tiny-you-are-in-comparisson-with-the-world-like-feeling.

But in my opinion you hadn't have to add the grass. I liked it better that way. You have added something, but haven't really take it to the max and that way it lost it's... magic. You just should have left it all way or made it a big grassy hill, but not something in between. Just like when you paint hour house, but stopped in the middle of it, and have a half painted house now... I hope you get what I mean.

But still, just keep practicing, editing and walling and with your Wacom Tablet coming your way I expect allot from you!!

I've been looknig for a scan of this everywhere and this is definatly better than a scan =) I really like how you painted it but kept the style of Shinkai in tact. 5cm/s is really a really awsome addition to his collection of works!

Nice job! Especially knowing that you did all with digital painting!

I like the clouds you did but I'm not fan of the nebula... Don't get me wrong I love the color, shape and look of it... But it feels like it's not really fitting and it gives a strange balance to the left side of the wall...

I prefer the edited version with smaller characters... But you need to work a bit more on the grass... And don't forget that you have wind going up the hill... So your grass is supposed to go to the right side of the wall! :p

Yeah I'm picky! :D I know! :p

This is only the second wallpaper I've seen for 5 Centimeters Per Second, and once again I love it. I really need to see the movie some time...

I'm impressed that you painted this, because it's pretty darn good. A very magical scene, and perfect for a desktop background. I can't really think of any criticism worth mentioning. Going to add it to my favorites. :)

Oh, I just LOVE how the sky turned out! The clouds looks FANTASTIC! The only thing that bugs me is the position of the legs of the character on the left, it looks kind of unnatural..
