What better way to celebrate DA! Desktop Anime's 7th birthday than with a wallpaper from my favorite series?
I got this image from a member of Kino LJ community many months ago. It was the cover of Dengeki Maoh and was about the then-new second Kino no Tabi PS2 game. I liked the pose of Kino and the more pop-art American comicbook styling of the image, and started to trace it, but never got very far with it. Recently I decided to finish it once and for all. It took a while to figure out what to do, but I settled on having Kino being shot out of a gun. The cloud explosions in the background were traced off another Kino scan, the black-and-white artwork to one of the novel chapters that featured an exploding volcano.
I wanted to do something different with the styling than my usual type of scenic Kino wall so I went for a pop-art feel with halftones and bright, saturated colors. Orange fit the explosion theme best.
Extremely big resolution! And extremely widescreen yes! For those less extreme, more resolutions are always here.
