Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
This wall is the first in a set of two Utena walls I'm working on. The second will feature this same image of Utena except on top of Akio's car (like it is in the original scan), so keep an eye out for that if you want.
So, with this wall I was trying to go for a movie poster type feeling. The first thing I did was vector Utena because the original image was aweful quality. Then, I found an image of her sword (from www.animegalleries.net) and vectored it. I actually vectored the sword from a black and white artbook sketch and then used colors from another Utena image to color it in.
Then I worked on the background. Though it could be considered a little empty, I liked the dark space because it emphasized Utena.

Great vector work but the spotlight effect sort of blacks it out. It would of been nice to see more of the bg, though it's mainly dark I think it would of made it clearer? The sword was well done too and your text fits perfectly. Overall I think I nitpicked cause in the end it's an awesome wall, great job!
I dont have anything to way about the pick except that it's good, but your like needs to be in BB Code, not HTML. Somthing like this would have been better.

Interesting background, and more interesting vectoring. Good use of texturing, background too dark for this scan in my opinion. Good job though somewhat grungy and abstract. Some interesting techniques you used. Great job overall I have to say.
I like how the lighting focuses on Utena's face - it's like her face is the focal point of the universe or something to that extent. Very nicely done, although the background could be a whee bit lighter.
This is really nice; I really haven't watched the Utena anime or anything, but it's a well-done wallpaper. I agree wtih cloverminx that it could be brighter.
Really nice wall. I love artwork from Utena. You did a great job vectoring the scan, it's awsome. The dark background does make Utena stand out :) I can't wait to see Part 2. Good job! :)
Wow. Wonderful vectoring; really just...damn. I love it all, especially how the lighting becomes brighter as it gets to Utena's face. Great job; this is definately going in my favorites.

Utena is my favorite anime heroine of all time. This is a very nicely done wall of her. The vectoring came out great, and the dark background helps to focus the viewer on the dynamicism of the image. I look forward to the version of this on Akio's car.
Nice but the dark BG makes it a bit hard to use for wall paper, and the picture itself looks a bit "dirty" for the image overlay, as opposed to a "clean looking" art presentation. Still a nice pic and the spot liht effect is a good concept.
