Sitting at my desk, twittling my thumbs, and praying that something will magically happen and all my work will be done for the night... Long and drawn out right? :S
READ THIS FIRST before commenting because I'm not really sure what to think about this wallpaper myself. XD
It all started with my love for that serie. I really wanted to make a wallpaper out of it... but how could I do something different from Dhias' wonderful watercoloured works which could match so well the serie? After rewatching the 1st episode for the 3rd time, I noticed a very brief frame where Morita runs to a garden to fetch a leaf for Hagu which looked really pop-artish by the lines and colours. I thought I really wanted to do something with that shot. I vectored it and improved some details so that it doesn't look weird for high resolutions, then added the omnipresent symbolic ferry wheel in the background (vectored from the ending) + two clouds here and there to complete the sky area.
At first, I wanted to try out the Roy Lichtenstein look: using primary colors yellow, blue and red combined with screentones. It looked ok but it was just plain to put as a background and didn't convey anything in particular.
After hours of research on colours with Dhias (god thanks her for her patience), I finally decided to go for a rainbow coloured wheel and a grey surrounding, including Morita (who almost ended with a pimping jaguar pattern shirt XD). I think the contrast between motions (slow moving wheel and dashing Morita) and colours shows pretty well. And yes, the focus of this wallpaper isn't Morita but the ferry wheel. If that's the feeling you have, then my wallpaper isn't so much of the failure I think it is.
This wallpaper was a pure experience and ended up with its own genre. It's not my style to do symbolic wallpapers with few elements because it's not appealing to mass people or so I think. Anyway, I can't wait for you guys' reactions! Depending on comments, it may be subject to changes. XD

Oh true this one moment in the episode, i've been wondering what it meant. anyway this is an interesting wallpaper, the grey morita and the black background make the wallpaper look simple but the rainbow in the background it's pretty. you know i made a wallpaper a few days ago which is grey + rainbow colors as well. now i'm not sure what to think about my wallpaper haha lol anyway clean and good work, unusual, yeah, but not bad at all. my favorite is the font hehe
Nice wallpaper, great idea and concept. vector combined with an easy bg, colors and monotone color....interesting wallpaper. technical great. the bg is just too black for me.. nice job

So what if "symbolic" wallpapers are not appealing to the mass? Who freaking cares? keep walling for YOURSELF, Sandy, that is what someone should do. To hell the mainstream crap.
And awesome wallpaper. I am liking your concept and I like the rainbowish effect you gave to the ferry-wheel. In my opinion it would even look more like "pop-art" if you used a gradient with some funky mix of colours instead of going for a pitch black background. It's still a very cool job and it's worth to be faved. :)
I like it. Saw the thumbnail and immediately knew the episode, the wheel in the background looks great. They used symbolism in the series over and over, why shouldn't you? :)
Yeah it's much more fun if you design for yourself, i've learned that the easy way lol. Honey and Clover is a great series and it is full of symbolism and it's great that you decided to give us a bit of greatness from the series in your wall. It's simple and amazing. The vector work is awesome and the rainbow wheel when I look at it I think of the Suneohair music spinning along with it. And MORITA-saaaan seemingly always dashing through things but taking it all in slowly and surely. Love this, thanks for a symbolic wall not catered to the masses :)
This is a pretty cool wallpaper, I like the vectoring you did and the overall concept is excellent. You might want to give the ferris-wheel a slighty softer look, and give it a bit of a glow, to help it really stand out, and you might want to make the text a touch bigger. Overall though, great job.
I never would've guessed that that was Morita. I've been feeling a Ferris Wheel background for a while, so now i'm a bit torn as to which wall to use. Good job on this one, though.
Hmm...a bit weird +_+ The contrast can be a little bit more dull XD In other words, you might want to de-saturate some of the colours in the ferris wheel. The cheek of the guy looks a bit manga-ish, it doesn't fit with the rest of the wall =/ Besides that, i really like it =D Interesting concept....

Its funny how you describe the primary colors look actually-- I was in an advanced art class for so long and I rmember we really did research on that :D I really do like it though! I think that you do such an awesome job in vectoring <-- still vectoring this ONE Black Cat image ^^... for a wallpaper (inspired by your Byakuya wallapper, I tried to vector, but outlining with a mouse isnt as easy as I thought O_o)
But either way, I really like the primiary colors effect. The only thing is, It would be been cool if you had used some color on the character-- but you know then when I think about it, the contrast with the ferris wheel would have been lost. It really sticks out like "BAM" when I see the ferris wheel...
It reminds me of these interesting art collection pieces in the San Jose Art meuseum-- I forgot what kind of paints they were, but they were like flurorescent and built upon the style of contrast...
I do love the ferrris wheel reflection on him though :D its really cool!
Less my kind of wall, because I'm more a texture fan.
But I sure can appreciate it. Vector wallpaper are really hard (and so long) to make in my opinion. I think you did a good job cause there was a lot to vector here.
The lightning reflection on the guy is really a great idea. You're right it blends well now and it adds details.
I like the concept with the wheel and the flashy colors. I just less like the clouds, maybe because clouds suggest depth in the image and the pitch black background suggest the opposite so I find it weird. This is not very important just something I was thinking.
Great effort here!

I adore the ferris wheel...but it's the character that turns me off for some reason...it's a cool concept...but I think it would have looked better if he wasn't all grey...still great work though.
Doo dlee doo posting from MT Xd
This wall is...surprising.

I'm scared. Why is there only 5 favorites for this. Because I posted so late I don't know if anyone will actually read this but the wallpaper is great. I love the multicolored ferris wheel mixed with the simplicity of the character in the foreground. I might be bias because I actually saw h&c, but either way this is definitely going in my favorites.
