Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
Well, thanks for the advice, everyone. I've brought out both Rei images a bit more and toned down the white lines. Maybe this will look a little better.
It looks like you've grunged it a bit too much. the light effect takes away the main focus of the character sprite, and the text placement is somewhat akwardly placed. the additional use of somewhat common grunge brush plus blurriness doesn't work too well with image.
Hmm, never thought purple would work that well with a grungy feeling but evidently you pulled it off pretty well. My only complaint is that the character seems too cut up by the effects used. Possible other way you could have gone about it was bring the bg image of rei to the foreground and blend it with the other image. That way the light effects erasing parts of the character in the bg wont matter so much.
The mixture of black and white and a bit of purple looks really nice and has a nice effect on the spectator. And there is a Sadamoto artwork in the background ^^
The white stripings covering Rei seems too overly done and maybe if you shift her name more to the left wolud have cleared more spcae to show her better ^.^
