Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
Well, I just got vol. 1 of the DVD this week, and I was really reminded how brutal but beautiful this show is; I figured making a smiliar themed wallpaper couldn't hurt.
Kalico helped me pick out the painting used in the BG, it's the last painting Van Gogh did before killing himself (which kind of matches the mood of the wall if you think). The brushes are a mix of pre-made and hand-made, and I use a lot of textures and stock to get the look and feel I really wanted. Overall ths one took a while and I'd like to thank Kalico and nat for their help. Head on over to my gallery for more resolutions. Enjoy!
Agreed with Shuei, the kind of background imo doesn't really fit her but at the same time it captures the feeling of the opening. Oh and maybe you overdid it with the smart blur, I can see quite a considerable amout of fuzzy areas, try to slighly blur those with the blur tool ^^. Overall it's a good wallpaper.
Despite this being my most favourite Elfen Lied wallpaper I've seen to date, the reds and yellows in the background don't seem to fit with the pinks and magentas in Lucy's hair and clothing.
Wow, that looks beautiful and I love that scan of Lucy. A painting by Van Gogh? Well, looks quite good but the best choice would be Gustav Klimt because the whole opening sequence is inspired by his art. Anyway nice choice and really nice wallpaper. Van Gogh goes well too because he was a really desperate being - just like Lucy.
I LOVE the background. its so.. soo... grungy and... real.. the text just fits in very well too. My only complaint is that lucy seems a bit out of place. blend her in a lil bit? maybe edit her colors or add some textures over? anyway you know how to blend since she looks sorta out of place. maybe its the blur? i cant put my finger in it...
Hm, I haven't seen this anime so I can't say from that whether or not her character goes with the mood of this...I like the feel of it though, it makes it look as though she's been hunting through an attic or cave or tomb for something precious and a light has just fallen on her as she came upon it...I like it alot. Her sad smile seems to fit with the piece, and of course, your signature style comes through in this yet again. Very nice...
Mmm suicidal :D I'm a bit confused over how close to the wall she is standing, it looks like she's right next to it but then the handprints are too small for that. Anyway the lighting and blood and everything fits the mood perfectly.
The blood on the background's a nice touch. Her hair clashes a bit with the picture, but there's not much you can do about that. Another exelent wallpaper.
I'm preeeeeetty sure you know how i feel about this wall. i love it beyond words lol
it fits the series perfectly, and despite what they say, fits her personality in the mosst perfect way, especially if you know the desputed meaning behind the painting about van gogh before he died.
anyways i'm back from philly now, and the funny thing is, i went into a poster shop on south st., and they had a poster of that painting XD
i alllllmost bought it.
The scan isnt as crisp as it should be, plus its abit grainy... anyway the lighting should be on the painting in the back instead on just her, that way it will bring her out on a brighter background which i tink will make it better ^.^
Wow, just amazing. well blended and the whole image just looks well put together. Grungy feeling offset by the character's almost melancholy smile. ::addstofavs::
