This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I got the scan here, but it was in two pieces. Unforunately, they do not fit together perfectly! There was a gap in between the two, and I was unable to draw the missing pieces back in. What I did do was draw in the pieces and fill it with black, while darkening the rest of the scan.
Overall, I'm fairly pleased with the results. First actual attempt at a scenery wall, and using textures as well. Now that I think of it, however, the perspectives and stuff was extremely hard to do - not the smartest choice for a newbie like me... >_>
Heh...if possible, it'd be nice if you also add Shinji, since Shinji IS the pilot and the very source how Eva Unit 01 has the feeling of a berserker. (ugh...bad English)
Very nice. I like how it's dark and eerie. I like how you made the Eva Unit's eye glow red and that cyber fence type of thing around it. Wonderful wallpaper. Plus favorite.
Wow. An Eva wall that isn't plastering Ms. Ayanami all over it?! Hahahaha, jk! I don't mind that (the invicible) Shinji is missing. After all, he'd be in the entry-plug. I saw the original scans. I'd say that the darkness suits it well. At first I thought the eye looked too clean, but it's growin' on me. Great work! ::added to favorites::
Wow, there are not many Evangelion wallpapers with a unit on them. I like the darkness and the twilight far away. Unit 01 looks like a monster being so dark with the red shining eye. The mystical dust behind it makes it even more gloomy.
This is really one of the best wallpapers of that kind. I really love it.
It's a pretty cool concept, but it's not totally coming together for me. Those squares behind Unit 01, which I'm guessing are building windows, really just seem to be hanging there, especially in consideration of the clear, unobstructed skyline you have in the back. I'd work more on defining the buildings around Unit 01, to give it a feel like it's really in a city, or otherwise cut down on the squares if you're trying to show something else. Nice job on the text, and the texturing is very interest. Overall it's not bad, but visually confusing.
I would love this wall were it not for that square pattern in the bg. Everything else looks fantastic, especially the aura around Unit-01. The squares just seem so out of place. I can't tell if it's a building, or an oddly-textured wall... Other than that, great job.
So dark and foreboding! I particularly like the sky and glow to the unit's eyes. But since I saw this in Session Zero I thought the boxy structures it's standing in was supposed to be the launch bay or something, not buildings. In that case you'd need to vary their size and details so it looks more like a row of buildings. Or you could get rid of those window sqaures and put in some tech-lines instead! But nice work nonetheless.
You have truly captured the Eva mood with this wallpaper. Very dark and mysterious looking. I can't find any noticable flaws other than some mentioned already. The textures you added are wonderful. =3
Good job on slicing the two scans together, it all blends nicely.
Whoa!! That's a mean Unit 01! VERY cool idea to the wall but I have to agree with redXXII. Those white boxes makes the wall look off. And a little detail to the buildings would be nice. But I still like the darkness of this wall and the text is pretty cool as well. Good job!

My brothers and sisters sit under the table, Picking up my bones,
And they bury them under the cold marble stones.
