Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
For this wallpaper, I asked opinion of my Visual Design instructer at college, and I made this wallpaper.
My instructor, who has 25 years of experience in visual design in print and web, gave me these reasons over the other background image that I had:
"Humans, due to their nature, are more drawn to faces, its something that we look at every day, while the bright flames of the other image looked good and fit the color scheme of the whole image, the angery face in contrast with the main image of the character who has a "clueless" or "nutral" expression is well executed and the dark colors give a dark "mood" to the whole image."
The episode that the background image came from is my favorite in the whole series, it was intense and disturbing.
Background image was resized from 640x480, scan of Mikoto is from Minitokyo, Banner with the name on it was made in Illustrator, Wallpaper was put together in Photoshop, and optimized for web in ImageReady
Wow, i havnt seen another wallpaper like that. The fury of Mai at the background juxtaposed with Mikoto's innocence is a stark contrast. This is a very interesting idea, i like it!
Wow... Your instructor was right, the contrast is really haunting. The contrast is really powerful and expresses that scene very well. However, I must say that I do enjoy the other version and I would suggest you upload that one as well, since I think that one while expressing a different emotion is also done well. That's just me, though.
Whoa what a scary picture of Mai @_@
I remember this episode it was sooo sad and intense! this wallpaper captures it well.
ah.. I think you should upload the other wallpaper as well since I really like it too.
I like the scan of Mikoto; nice and clean, and pretty colors. But it really doesn't go with the background image of Mai in a fit of rage. The two moods are just too disparate to go together. Please make another background that would go better with the lightheartedness of the Mikoto scan.
I agree with what you and your professor said, yet when i look at this wall, both mai and mikoto's expressions contradict each other, which i thought was awkward and bizzare.
...Snail... Your lecturer stuck with right and contrast realness it was accompanying and. The contrast under power expresses that scene quite well with realness. But, I while expressing, in order the going out that thing to think go out i enjoy a different version and the extensive thing dog does with sameness, different emotion also well and cyess upload it will propose theyn with the place thing must talk. That the B which is legitimate, but.!
