In making this wallpaper, I went through a lot of twists and turns in creative direction. It seems that my usual creative process is to start out with only a vague idea of what I want the final outcome to look like, then I kinda let the image I’m working with sort of guide me in the right direction, it seems to work pretty well. It’s actually a bit like focusing a camera or something, as I go along, the idea of what I want my work to look like becomes clearer and clearer until I know exactly what I want it to look like, and then it’s not too far to go once I’ve got that clear in my mind. I think what really carried the day for me, in terms of guiding the direction I went with this wallpaper, was the distracted look on Lucrezia Noin’s face, like her mind was else ware, in some deep contemplation - to me it said that she was probably thinking “Things should not be this way”. A thought I can very much relate to, as it occurs to me quite often when I see things in this world that I know are not as they could be. I mean, the planet, I’m sure, has quite enough in the way of natural resources to easily and comfortably accommodate it’s current population, and most likely, significantly more besides. It’s only that the earth’s populace as a whole have no ability to allow that to happen, and so people starve and the planet itself takes a severe beating. Just having that thought alone is enough to let anyone identify with the look the character displays, and that is but one example.
