Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!
I've been wanting to make this wallpaper for a while, and since I took a bunch of cloud photos over vacation so I could use them as stocks, now seemed as good a time as any.
The inspiration came from a magazine article about family vacations, and instead of using a regular photo/caption, they used a type of photo-mosaic in order to create large, composite panoramic pictures. I thought it was a cool idea and wanted to replicate it.
Of course, Kino. And Riku, my most favoritest character ever. Also, the off-skew angle and the large open sky made it ideal for the style I wanted, which was to place the characters on top of the photomosaic of a sky. Thus, it's a sceneric that's not so generic.
Scan came from the 2nd visual novel (smudged), clouds were composited from photos I took, and the photos themselves were arranged in Photoshop, which has really crappy shape support (I had to do them at 2x size, then shrink in, to reduce the jaggy edges. It's still not enough, but after individually putting together 32 "snaps" I got pissed off at PS and gave up.)
The title is obvious, a picture perfect day.

For some reason it reminds me of that one commercial XD... Anyways, I like how it turned out. The background and characters match, and overall, it's just a great wallpaper ^_^.
Wow you arranged all those pictures O__O

i wonder how many pics of clouds you took to get what you wanted o.o

ARGH! I was doing fine until someone spoke the forbidden words of "Hewlett Packard commercial", now I'm doomed! T_T Cute idea, but you've done better. ;) Wish the edges of the photographs didn't look so mcuh sharper than everything else in the picture, but oh well. Also the colors in the sky seem more saturated than those of the scan - if the colors on Shi&Ri were less muted, or the sky more muted, the effect would work a little better. Like the new logo though - now Kino and Hermes will always be on ALL the wallpapers, no matter what! Bwahaha~! Also, I never really cared for the look of the old one - I'm not much on expository text on wallpapers unless it's kinda subtle. But still, I guess that picture in the corner did need a little something, didn't it? :D
Hmm, their shadows are interesting...are they standing on clouds? oO; 'Cause, actually, that would be kinda cool.
Anyway, obligatory "Aww, Shizu is so soft and fluffy" commentary-- wait. I meant Riku. Riku. 'Cause...Riku's the dog. Oops. ^^;
Oh, and just so you know, it's partially your fault I'm here. (Sarah "Seraphim" Gallagher's mini-review + ADV preview DVD of Ep. 1 my friend Brittany gave me + your website)^thinpak boxset=Kinorific doom. T_T;
...now, to scour the internet for pictures of human form *SPOILER*...
Your fadeing is great, as usuall. I love wat you did to the background. All you did was put up little squares, but it really looks as if they were individual pictures! Although, I would have loved to see the "pictures" a bit more messy, I can't complain!
