As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Hi, this is my second wallpaper I have uploaded, this is the Strike Rouge IWSP pack which the pilot is Cagalli. I made the background using Cinema 4D ( the 3d abstract blasting around the background ) then did a few filter and editing with photoshop.
It took me a few hours ( like 3-4 ) hours to get the background right and took about another hour to cut out the scan using photoshop & blending it.
I liked the overall looking and style of this walli, it looks like it is fighting behind a big star/explosion, making the background is always my weakest part, but i think i tried and this is the best i got so far combining C4d Abstract renders with photoshop.
It's not a bad concept, but the BG is way too busy and makes it hard for the robot to stand out. The scan quality you used also seems a touch too low, you might want to try cleaning it up a bit then working on making it stand out from the BG you created.
Great effect in the BG, but it's not enough of a contrast to make the armor stand out. I'd try muting the Bg colors a bit (maybe not the entire thing is you want but just around the guy himself). Or maybe make the armor more dark, something. It's a good wall, just difficult to see what's clearly happening.
It's very striking, almost like the guy is gonna jump right out at ya! I like your bg, your second attempt is alot better than mine. I'll have to check out Cinema 4D.
