This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Well... what can I say? It started out as a fan art and grew into something much more. Yes it's a shoddy coloring job and there are tons of random lines everywhere, but it's kind of on purpose. I really wanted this piece to look like an unfinished sketch (which is why I left Leon's hair and the clothing uncolored... it'd look too complete if I had colored it).
My reasons for doing this piece? Well a lot of people focus on the relationships between Sora, Riku, and Kairi, but I really want to focus on Sora's relationship with other sub characters such as Namine, Cloud, and Leon. This piece stands for Namine's wish for Sora to be happy and be reunited with his friends... including the ones that he made during his journey. By having the sketch only half done, it kind of signals that this goal has not yet be reached. It always made me so sad in KH1 when Leon said that this would be the last time they would probably ever see each other. So this sketch is in dedication to exactly that... unexpected reunions (which I bet will be happening a lot in KH2).
On that note... who here is buying KH2 just to see Cloud and Leon kick butt? I know I am ^^ Those two boys are easily my favorite characters and I think they're sorely overlooked in KH1. Hopefully they'll have their moment to shine in KH2.
Yes Cloud is a little happier than he probably should be but I don't care I think it's a cute shot. Leon looks a little stiff in comparison to the other two but it's on purpose because... well... Leon's a complete stiff and everyone knows it. ^^ If I redid the sketch I might rotate Cloud's body a bit... his right shoulder is kind of awkward for his hand to be on Sora's head. Otherwise I like how the sketch came out.
Okay as far as how I did it, I sketched this with a wacom tablet on Alias Sketchbook Pro and colored it in Photoshop. I gave the image a slight, sandstone texture to make it look like paper and gave it a bit of a vertical perspective so that it looks like it's laying on the sketchbook. I just wrote the word "Reunion" via wacom tablet. I had found Namine's hand and the sketchbook binding in a video clip of the KH2 opening. Sadly it was WAY too pixelated to put it in so I had to completely re-color it in Photoshop >< I'm still not that happy with how it came out. It's not very realistic looking but then again neither is the original CG version.
Overall it probably took about 5 hours to make this wall cuz I'm slow and picky.
NOTE: Check out my website (under Kat in artist gallery) later and hopefully I'll have the full colored fan art done. Also sorry for the weird image size, but it doesn't look very good at a 1280x1024 -_-
I LoOVE the concept behind it. Very well drawn chica! You ARE improving as always. Great expressions and VERY nice job on coloring that hand. I thought you screen-captured that part. Love it...like all the stuff you do! XD

Oh, so it's symbolic right? pretty neat-o! I was sorta shocked seeing Cloud so cheery ya know? He's always serious, so this kinda feels out of character to me. But I do agree with you that it's a cute shot :) I think the lines on Sora's face is a little out of place because Squall/Leon and Cloud don't have then, but the other lines look fine to me. That's what sketches are right? Another opinion of mine is that the coloring does look odd. Maybe using colored pencils would look better with the pencil drawing. Other than that, I really do adore the concept behind this wall! very creative :) and keep up the work!
btw, I'm sooo looking foward to KH2 to see Cloud and Squall/Leon do some major damage but also Auron is gonna kick butt too!
Wow... I LOVE what you said about your wallpaper. A symbolization right? ^^ I don't know how to express the beauty and what you said about your wallpaper. It's so... beautiful. Yeah! I am definitely gonna buy KH2! Leon has had to have heard of the special saying, "You'll never know who you'll run into next..." Man, I love that saying. It touches me so.
Wow, very nice. Your drawing came out very well. I like how the hand almost looks as if it actually came out of the game. I also love the fact the drawing wasn't completed either. Well done.
